So I need to check my test levels and without insurance was going to use direct labs as I used to when I was using and competing. Problem is I see a bunch of different tests that include some form of testosterone checks and when I called the lab directly they had no idea which test I should order....they told me to check with my physician, which I currently don't have one. Am I just looking for the free testosterone levels? Just want to make sure I have the proper info needed to set up TRT if/when needed. Considering how I have been feeling the past 6 months, all signs seem to be pointing to low t levels.

Something to keep in mind.

A direct lab assay measuring free testosterone is consider highly inaccurate. It's a cheap assay that gives erroneous values of FT (free testosterone).

There's several types of assays used to measure FT. ie: Equilibrium dialysis, Centrifugal ultrafiltration, Calculated free testosterone and Direct immunoassay. Personally I would use your SHBG, Albumin and total testosterone to get a configured calculation level of your FT.

Also with a measurement of your SHBG. This can give you an idea if there's any other concerns that may need addressed. If any.
