Brain Doping and Steroids: The double standard

This pisses me off to no end.

"Unlike the anabolic steroids, human growth hormone and blood-oxygen boosters that plague athletic competitions, the brain drugs haven't provoked similar outrage. People who take them say the drugs aren't giving them an unfair advantage but merely allow them to make the most of their hard-earned skills."

Great point brick, we'll have to wait till some phd candidiate that took "mental enhancers" to study all night for a test kills his wife and kid for making too much noise to equate the two unfortunatly.

If you look around on the net, adderall abuse as a "study-drug" is really prominent right now. Everyone and their brother are taking it to study for their finals. And its the same people who cry in outrage at "cheating" athletes.
What a fucking bunch of pricks.

Adderall is very abused in college, I see it all the time. What I dont understand, is that people are perscribed these drugs for a reason. When your everyday joe takes them, who knows what kind of effect it can have over the long term on the brain, since these are people whose bodies do not need the drug. And the brain is a pretty important thing. I dont even care about the comparison to cheating in sports. I just think its terrible drugs in general are being promoted to help people get through everyday tasks. Next thing we know half of the country is going to be dependant on adderall to just go to work and be productive.
