If like me you read carefully MG's posts (you should), you know he's really concerned by health and always try to find some natural ways to minimize possible side effects of our lifestyle. Rereading some of his posts, I noticed he was constanly speaking highly of one, bromelain. So I decided to do a little more research on myself, and indeed it sounded promising. I finally gave it a try, it has now been 3 weeks since I started.

And believe me or not, this enzyme is by far the most potent natural supplement I have ever used... his effects are almost instantaneous and mutiple.

First noticeable is on the digestive track. When you eat a lot, especially protein, you somehow often feel bloated. Well, 3 days and it was gone... my hunger even increased dramatically.

Next: joints. I had been experiencing knee pains for a few months, and nothing seemed to work. 3 weeks on it, and I can now squat again without suffering.

Immune systeme... I feel great while everyone around me is ill and when in such situation I would normally have gotten sick. Stamina really increased.

Not the least: acts dramatically on water retention. Didn't make any changes in diet or anything, but much less puffy. Not that I was really, but I can there's a big difference. I guess that's why docs advise it for oedema treatment.


As far as doses are concerned I don't know how many mgs I exactly take daily, as I buy it in pharmacy here and tabs are dosed at 900 nk (nanokatals). Unable to tell you the equivalence. They recommend 9 tabs a day, I take between 25 and 30.


Really felt like sharing this, as we're always trying to find in exotic compounds the solution to get better, when sometimes it's not in them the key is. At least the key to a better health...

So again, thank you Massive G! Maybe now I should give a try to that coconut oil :)
 
Yeah I hear you Massive G and all the veteran's posts I read voraciously and take in all the info they give me.....Those guys and my best friend have really taught me everything I know about BB'ing...

I take Bromelain as it is in the digestive enzymes I take before each meal. I t have noticed that I am no longer bloated and ready to burst. I have not been taking it long enough yet to feel the effect with my joints though. But now I have something to look forward too.
 
Your welcome I am happy the information helped you especially bromelain it is truely a wonder supplement. You cab get bromelain at GNC or Vitamin World and any place on the net.

Since I am asked about this most often and thanked as well -here's a repost...
ginger root (1000 mgs with each meal)
acidophilus (with pectin 2-3 caps with each meal)
metamucil (2 tablespoons once a day)
bromelain 1-2 500 mg tabs 2-3 times a day.


Benefits of Ginger Root

Danish researchers found that ginger root can block the effects of prostaglandin - a substance that cause inflammation of the blood vessels in the brain and can lead to migraines.

Ginger root was found to be effective for relieving the severity of nausea even in cases of pregnancy.

It has anti-inflammatory properties that can lessen the pain of rheumatoid arthritis.

Respiratory infections - it is well known for its warming action on the upper respiratory tract, so it has been used to treat colds and flu.

DO Not over dose on bromelain, rapid heart beat and super thin blood can result if people are popping bromelain like candy it's a supplement with drug like effects. I would not exceed 6 500 mg tabs a day and go off it on cruises.
Watch the potency on bromelain too different tabs and caps can be different mg strengths and higher GDU (gelatin digesting units) I wouldn't exceed 3000 GDU's a day.
Acidolp-I get the caps that are refrigerated for potency vs the freezedried ones.
Acidophilus

Acidophilus offers variety of potential therapeutic uses. These include:

Excess blood fats are possibly reduced by soluble fibres such as pectin, bean and oat gums, and the types in legumes (lentils, chickpeas, navy, pinto or kidney beans).

Heart health
May improve by diets rich in fibre, through its cholesterol lowering effects.

Possible protection against cancer
In the bowel, bacteria converts fibre into short chain fatty acids, which provide energy for the body and may help protect against cancer.

This is what I take year round for heart health as I am 35 and Beleive the body wears itself out as you get older so I am on these things year round.
younger guys may not need this.
To try and control cholesterol levels from juice I'd recommend Omega III's, niacin, and Red Yeast Rice all the other things like Ester C and E and regular vitamins and Bromelain have a health enhancing effect also-lowering blood pressure a bit, keeping the clotting factors down etc.

MG suggested I use it after my surgery and I havent stopped. I totally believe that my incisions etc all healed to a higher degree from his advice in taking brom. I love the stuff.:D
 
Do you usually take 1000mg's 3x per day with meat meals? Or with shakes? And do you take with the meal or should you take before it?
 
Anyone here use a German product called Wobenzym? It's supposed to be Germany's second most sold "drug" after aspirin. It's a proteolytic enzyme product.
 
Massive G is one of the very few people I actively seek out to read his posts. His years of knowledge are vast and he is more than willing to help out anyone at anytime. I highly recommend any newbies (and vets alike) listen up when he has something to say. MG you have more than earned my respect.

Enzymes basically digest what you eat, so it makes sense to take them after you're done with your meal. However, if you're constanly eating throughout the day like me, just swallow the tabs down when you can... shouldn't make that big of a difference.

No reason to just use brom with meat... it will digest any kind of protein whatever the source. You can eat pineapples, kiwis or papayas too.
 
I take 1500 mgs a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner...or meals 1, 3, and 5.

I think the reason why he posted this is because Bromelain used to be used heavily as a meat tenderizer. I'm guessing it still is.

But yes, Bromelain can (and should!) be used whenever you like, but mostly after meals to aid in digestion. The anti-inflammatory properties are what I like best about it. I used to eat loads of pineapples, but the stem of the pineapple is what actually contains most of the bromelain, so I ended that practice. :)

Great post MassiveG, and the link you provided to the earlier post you wrote contains unbelievable amounts of great info on this product.

Question - is there a specific brand of Bromelain that you recommend? There ar a few out there, but if they're all the same I guess it doesn't really matter?

How about this product:

Betain HCL 1200mg
Pepsin: 36.4mg
Papain: 10mg (2000usp units/mg)
Bromelain: 10mg (2000 GDU/g)

Its made by country life, these are the contents for 2 pills. Already started it and like it so far eventhough betaine HCL is the main ingredient because it does help with HCL in the stomach.
 
How about this product:

Not enough bromelain. I use 500mg x3 per day. I swear by it now also. My shoulders were always in pain when starting shoulders but that has improved enough that I have actually held off on surgery... maybe permanantly. Combined with acidophillus, I have zero bloat these days even when going as high as over 400g protein/day.

Definitely with less bloat, my appetite is sharper too. Stuff was tailor made for strength and size athletes.

I REALLY LIKE IT.

Honestly I have never tried 1-2 times a day dosing with more potent tabs or caps.
The individual tolerance will vary and I have found it best for me to take 600 gdus 4-5 times a day with meals.
NOW , Twinlab, Vitamin World, Swanson, Schiff, Nature's Way all are good sources of the bormelain just check the GDU's on the label as it will be different from the actual mgs.
