Collateral Murder

i just caught that earlier today...i respect these guys for getting out there and fighting but sometimes they need to teach these guys how to use their heads instead of just plain fight fight fight...saying come on let me shoot...let me shoot! when the guy was trying to carry the wounded into the van....dude just wanted to pick off human life...sad

What a frightening video... Wow.

These pilots shoudn´t be trusted with a pistol, and they let them behind the wheel of a fully armed apache helicpter. It is really sad to see someone so eager to kill so indiscriminately.

The problem is that we are just seeing this video without much context. Before I would pass judgement, I would want to know what was going on in that sector preceeding this action. Had there been attacks on US Soldiers, Iraqi Civilians, issues with IED's etc, known bad guys handing around etc. etc. etc. . Basically you got a bunch of guys down there, some with weapons, and they are guys that should not be walking the street with Weapons. ANd, by now they should damn well know better. If I'm a Marine that has to cruise up that street in the HumV on patrol, I'm glad the Apache took those guys down for me. I really don't want to encounter one of them popping out from behind a building with an AK to take pot shots at me an my guys..

The video shows one thing that I think everyone can agree on. War Sucks. I have to give these guys the benefit though. They are doing an enormously dangerous and important job and should not be second guessed on every move they make.

Everyone who voted for Bush should be tried for war crimes.

Rollin eyes...... Here we go again!.....

Yes, we don't know what led up to this or how factual the www.collateralmurder.com story is to go along with this footage. These sites can try to make you feel sorry for the most dangerous terrorists in the world by showing slide show pictures of their family and how theyve suddenly lost fathers and husbands.

Exactly. I mean, you could make almost any action that takes place over there look suspect.

I don't blame the anti-war crowd. Who wants war? What I don't like is there tactic of villanizing the poor bastards over there doing the job. It's nothing new though. They did it big time during Vietnam. Protest the war, absolutely. I mean, we would probably still be in Vietnam if it weren't for the protesters. BUT for christ sake, lets not bash the guys in the field who are just trying to protect themselves and their brothers out there.

I think the more important question to be asked is why the hell would Reuters reporters be hanging around a bunch of dudes with weapons knowing that they would probably be tagged as "insurgents" as well? Oh waite, I just answered my own question....REUTERS! They are known for doing stupid shit and putting their journalists and cameramen in dangerous, and many times out right stupid, situations. I'm not saying the pilots were right in what they were doing, but the fact of the matter is that some of those dudes had weapons. I know when I was over there in 04' and 05 we did the same shit. We figured if the person was dumb enough to put themselves near those people then they were guilty as well. As for the children...thats just sad, but who here actually saw the kids in the van prior to the end of the video where they zoom in on it?

Since you seem to have the impression that "we" are the bad guys. Click on the link below. Then click on the link under the pictures that says "NEXT100" then keep clicking until it sinks in who are the ones killing "indiscriminatley"!

Its not about blame the US first. Just think for a minute and put yourselves in the other side's shoes.

The US is in the business of occupying foreign countries. The home countries' civilians are defending their country against the US. What if China set up bases in our main cities and started policing our country? Would you want to attack them? What if they dismantled our government and gave us a new one? Would you support them?

Someone brought up Vietnam, there wasn't peace in Vietnam until we stopped occupying their country. Pulling out is the only sensible answer. Its the only answer that's ever worked in history. There is never peace while a country is being occupied.

I'm not gonna dispute the fact that the US is in the business of occupying countries. Although your opinion on why the US occupies other countries is probably wrong. Doesn't it make sense for a country to occupy another to better themselves (i.e. oil and other natural resources)....its been happening since time began. The US does and should continue to look out for OUR interests in the world, and if we can we'll consider those we "occupy". Face it...we are the nicest nation on the face of this earth to ever occupy another. That you cannot dispute. I agree that we should have never gone in Iraq in the 1st place. The best thing for Iraq was Saddam...he was not an Islamic extremist and yet he put the people in their place - making it a non issue for the US to deal with when it came to terrorism. As for the video, I've been in similar circumstances (and worse off situations for that matter) and civilian casualties, however unfortunate, are a reality of war. In this case, I would not hold these pilots accountable. If you watch the video you clearly see men with weapons and the cameras the journalists were carrying could easily be mistaken for weapons.

If a bunch of religous zealots set up shop in the USA and start spewing hate and talking about killing ALL chinese then I wouldnt blame them if they did try to occupy. Keep stuff in perspective, your comparing apples to oranges.

If you dont wanna be occupied then police your own fucking ranks of the assholes threatening/fantasizing about killing everyone in our country and actively/frantically seeking ways to do it. Then we wont have to "occupy".

Im wondering how they saw one of the guys carrying an RPG!!! Was that one of the cameras!? LOL

they were wrong to fire on them when they were not making any type of theatening gestures toward the helicopter. i have not heard recently of any apache copters being brought down by a camera.

It was like they were looking for reasons to shoot them. At one point when the injured guy they had already shot was crawling on the ground for his life you could hear the one soldier saying "come on please, just pickup a gun". He was wishing the guy would pickup a gun so that he could shoot him.
