I bought a neck harness and I was wondering how often you should train your neck and how many sets and reps.....Thanks for any advice given cheers!

I train mine two times a week with weights and lots of neck training with MMA

I'd say for direct neck work once a week should be fine! be careful with this. very easy to hurt your neck!

I used to when training judo for a decade, but not anymore. If you are not in martial arts, what's the purpose?

I have in the past 1-2 times a week with shoulders and back-after the neck is warmed up I do a couple of sets of the harness 10-15 reps-helped me with the stiff ness and soreness of the neck from sleeping and training as well.

massive, thats exactly why I'm training my neck bc I get kinks in my neck all the time from training and sleeping. I think having a strong muscular neck is important and injury sparing!!

I also train with friends of mine from time to time from American Top Team doing BJJ and wrestling.

I use the smith machine. Put the bar on the lowest setting with 10-20lbs on each side. Place a flat bench about a foot away from the bar(like you were going to do skull crushers) Put a pad on the bar, lie down facing up with your head off the end of the bench under the bar, place a folded towel on your head in addition to the pad. Unrack the weight with one hand and keep that hand gently on the bar as you move it up and down using your neck. You can lie face down and on both sides to work all 4 sides of the neck. Go slow and don't push it, you don't want to even tweek your neck. Hope this helps.

I've always had a thick neck from wrestling. I bought a neck harness years ago and love it. I rotate between free weights and cables with it. I also use the neck machine at the gym too. I'll do my neck on "misc day" with my calves and traps. I'll do my neck workout once a week, right after I work traps so its nice and warmed up and a little pre-exhuasted. I'll usually do two exercises for 4-5 sets a piece. Start off with just a couple sets because you will feel like your neck is paralized and won't be able to move it. And my neck grows very fast too.

I had to train it after an injury I had to my neck/back quite a few years ago. I had to start with bands and work on the muscles very light to start, got full movements back after a few weeks. I worked on 3 sets of 15 in 4 directions,

wrestlers! DAM RIGHT

Shit we got so good at neck bridges we could rotate from a front to a back and side bridges without our hands touching the ground.....and our coaches would step on us as we were doing them.... my neck is HELLA strong even to this day and thick enough to make buying dress shirts HELL.
