Does anyone here know anything about CYTOKINES?

Cytokines are cell-signaling proteins that control a range of things in the body from inflammatory response to cell death. The big ones are tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interleukin-1 and interleukin-6.

There are drugs that surpress cytokines like Humira and Stelara - drugs used for Crohn's disease and the skin disease, psoriasis.

Now here's the relationship to bodybuilding, and why I AM interested: I was prescribed Humira for my mild psoriasis and I did my first injection last night. I'm sick of using creams and ointments which rub off on my clothing, and while my psoriasis isn't that bad, I just hate the creams so I opted for injections with Humira. I was denied Stelara because I hadn't tried Humira first.

Anyway, like any curious mad scientist, I started reading about Humira and hours later discovered the connection between cytokine inhibitors and myostatin and muscle growth...

IT SEEMS LIKE CYTOKINE INHIBITORS WILL INHIBIT MYOSTATIN'S EFFECTS.

I'm not positive, but from various google searches and reading medical journals, that is what I THINK.

Now, I had to make this post to ask if any of you know much about this. I've always loved the science/medical aspect of this sport.

Any thoughts? Do some google searches yourself, what do you conclude?

-lead to site injection problems
-severe joint pains
-feeling sick , nausea
-blood disorders
-liver disorders
-pneumonia or infections of the airways
it could be more trouble than its worth
in de end , but then again i wouldn t know
how it would reacte while ussing steroids , hgh, slin

Well I'm not taking Humira for bodybuilding. I MUST take it because my doctor prescribed it for my psoriasis since creams don't work well.

I just read up on it and was shocked to see it may have bb applications.

There are no bodybuilding applications. Wishful thinking.

I just wrote a paper on inflammation where I touched on this. If you stop the inflammation process....forget muscle growth, and forget health and normal healthy repair..

I told my doctor I'd try it for 3 months. If it does a miracle for my skin condition, I may stay on it. Like I said before, the ointments and creams don't cut it. Are you familiar with psoriasis?

They have 2 leading drugs out there, both are cytokine inhibitors. I don't think they completely wipe out cytokine action though...but only slow them down a bit? I can't imagine wiping out the inflammatory process completley would be healthy either.
