Anyone here have hernia surgery? How long until you were back in the gym?

Say you have diastasis recti like myself, from 3 inches under your bellybutton up to your chest almost, you get that repaired there's no longer any real heavy lifting EVER right? Like max deadlifts?

I played in a football game 4 wks after an umbilical hernia. No mesh. Just a 6” zipper scar

2 hernias both done the same day, before surgery i made sure i have plenty tb500 stocked and I was in the gym 2 weeks after surgery using seated machines only.

Alrighty thank you fellas for confirming I am indeed just being a pussy. So what you guys are saying is that even though I can feel it that doesn't mean I'm doing damage....right?

Dude... With all due respect dont be stupid. You just said you dont feel comfortable pushing weight and still limited at work let alone lifting. Picking up less than 40 lbs causes discomfort? You're not ready.

There's your answer.

TB 500, BPC 157 and HGH to speed up recovery.

I had hernia surgery and hip replacement surgery almost back to back. The hernia surgery didn't go well and it was 6 weeks to get back to the gym

Did some cardio and some machines lightly a couple days ago and felt fine. Thanks for all the help fellas, definitely not going at full speed yet but this will do for now so I don't turn into a slob and it will make me feel better!

Inguinal hernia, back 2-3 weeks but only did movements that kept abdominal pressure low!

Umbilical repair in 2022 did cardio 2 weeks after. Did machines only 4 weeks after. Free weights/compound lifts 8 weeks after.

Take it easy. Dont rush back =.

I had umbilical surgery 3 times, the last time I had mesh installed. Doctor released me after 4 weeks.

I had bilateral inguinal surgery with mesh installed and doctor released me after 13 days.
You have to know your body. It depends on what kind of shape you were in prior to surgery.
Be smart, don't rush, you have plenty of time to get back to the gym. Enjoy your break.

had inguinal hernia surgery couple years back. Was back in gym by week 2 for very light high rep stuff. You wont wana be pushing heavy weights so soon. Avoid deadlift, leg press and even 1arm bend over rows till full recovery.

Had umbilical and Epigastric hernia that is just above the umbilical. They stitched the umbilical and put a mesh over the epigastric. You can see the Epigastric hernia in my profile photo actually. I had the surgery done right after that show. I was back in the gym 4 weeks later.

Why did you have to have surgery 3 times? I’m getting one of these fixed soon and am worried about complications and which procedure to have done. Any suggestions or advice?

The first 2 were done in the early 80's. The doc used fishing line and lead weights.
The 3rd was done in '89 and the mesh was installed. Dr released me 4 weeks later. Was surprised I healed that fast.
Hasn't bothered me again.

Umbilical hernia 5 years ago. I was back in the gym working out at 50% at 1 week and 100% about a month in. It is currently failing and im dreading having it done again.

Mesh patch? That sucks and is my fear. I rushed recovery because I'm a stubborn shit and cant stand sitting/laying around all day. I was losing my mind. So far no problems for me. Been probably 7 years.

Yeah it was the mesh. I actually love the laying around all day part its. just the gym that I am a little crazy about and feel like I cant miss. No problems after 7 years? Thats great, In sure it will hold up fine at this point.

Holy shit. Just had my umbilical hernia repaired with mesh yesterday. There were 2 hernias in there, a diastasis, and he found a nodule on my bladder he clipped off to send to pathology.

I had a Shoudice repair 6 years ago where it was stitched but it didn't hold. That was zero pain and easy recovery. This one is certainly a bitch. It's a 2 pain level while I'm laying but sitting up out of bed or moving it shoots to a 9-10.

I've read over the years on threads that it's bitch to sit up or roll out of bed- they certainly weren't lying. Was a little better this morning getting out of bed but definitely now fun.

Ulnar nerve repair and carpel tunnel next week. LOL

Bro I crashed on the way out of the hospital and they put me in the er. The spasms I had were unbelievable. Then when I finally got home the gas/feeling of having to shit was unbearable. No amount of weed helped.

The next few I was a giant baby who couldn’t move out of bed without assistance. Humiliating. Finally learned to roll out like a 600lb lifer.

Glad I did it but damn it was worse than expect

Yes, it's the fucking spasms! Fine if I'm stationary but moving- FUCK. I had a bunch of flem from being put under and that was a bitch to "try" and cough up.

I'm getting the "fat person roll out of bed technique" down to a science. LOL
