information on fat cells . . .

I stand corrected . . . well, sort of.

"The number of fat cells you have remains fairly constant throughout
your life, regardless of whether or not you diet, or are thin or fat, say
researchers at the Karolinska Institute, Sweden. In a study published
in Nature they have demonstrated that we continually create new fat
cells to replace those that are breaking down."

very interesting

DUH YOU DONT ACTUALLY BURN THEM OFF IT JUST SHRINKS(FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD) THEM YOU ARE BORN WITH A PREDETERMINED NUMBER OF FAT CELLS

sorry for my ignorance but this is interesting and I would like to understand more....so when you lose fat...what happens to the fat cells when you diet?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can explain this to me.

Are there any other compounds beside pgf2a that destroys fat cells?

In my little mind, the first thing I thought
about was the toxins that are stored in fat cells
and how over time, perhaps it is possible to
rid your body of these dangerous chemicals
instead of accumulating them to the point where
they can do real harm. The body truly is a marvel.

There was a study that put obese men on diets where they lost very significant amounts of fat. Their blood was analyzed for many things including toxins.

Now this study took place in the 1990's, and they found traces of pesticides released into plasma that were banned in the 1970's.

Where I stand to be corrected is when they say;
"The number of fat cells you have remains fairly
constant throughout your life, regardless of whether

that one could continually add new, fat cells to your
body through out your adult life. So, perhaps that isn't
the case . . .

But what has not changed is that the only permanent
way to rid yourself of fat cells is through surgery.

The quote is not wholly accurate. There are "dietary/supplementary" ways/substances to stop adipose cell proliferation by inducing differentiation. In other words several things occur including activating genes responsible for this "cease proliferation" induced differentiation process.

Eventually, over time you will end up with a small decrease in fat cells.

What you eat, when you eat and how you eat as well as when you fast & how you fast produce all sorts of hormonal changes, intracellular signaling activations/deactivations and gene activations and deactivations.

...profound effects on cancer treatments and longevity...as well as obvious body composition changes.

This all seems like a good argument for some targeted lipo/ab etching.

I've had a real problem with lower ab fat and would really consider something like this when money is better. Just get some of the extra cells taken out then don't eat like a fat pig and remain leaner.

Boy, this is going to come off as a really dumb question...but one that would require an in intelligent response..lol...Does lipo suction actually reduce the amount of fat cells? Like does it actually suck out actual fat cells permanently, or does it just remove fat cell mass? To bad DATs not around...he also had an intelligent fact based answer. Maybe I'll have to not be lazy and google it myself...lol

I do understand that removing fat cells in practice hasn't been as permanent as it should be in theory but I wonder if someone stayed lean would this still be a problem. The real issue is that the type of person who usually resorts to lipo is also the type of person who can't strictly control their eating and body fat levels. A bodybuilder having it might change some of this and make it more permanent.

Yes, liposuction does remove the actual fat cells. They go bye-bye,
into a bucket. But . . . people are predisposed to store fat where they
store it. Where, how much, how fast, etc . . . is very individual but the
areas most common are well known to all.

That is not meant to say that once removed, they do not, will not, return
to the same area . . . they will. During the Second World War (I think)
they were doing skin grafts on the wounded and it was not uncommon
for tissue to be taken from the buttocks and thighs and placed on other
areas of the body that were damaged, in need of replacement.

It was observed, unfortunately for many, that if tissue was taken from the
buttocks and placed on the back of your hand for instance (where very
little fat is stored) it was not uncommon for the that area, once fat free,
to now accumulate fat as a result of the graft. And that fat would have
to be removed periodically, only to return again and again . . .

Great post.....Thanks

Theres a few Pro bodybuilders who have had lipo to accentuate what they already could do with real good diet practices.

Also Sylvester Stallone has had more than one Lipo procedure done and I have a feeling he controls his diet pretty good.

Im sure there are many examples of lipo working hand in hand with a good diet.

Anybody on the board have any personal experience with lipo? I was very heavy (fat) as a child, and even when I diet down I never seem to lose the lower gut and love handles. Back, arms chest and especially legs look great, never abs. I also never seem to lose the fat underneath the top of my triceps.... like a bitch...lol. Seriously though, sometimes I think this summer when I lean up, maybe I should do it. Would
I permanatly remove those fat deposits? Or is it just a temporary fix? I kind of look down on the type of person who would use lipo as a tool to lose weight, but if you can only take your body so fa with diet and training then...

And you better make sure you pay the extra money for a good surgeon..for a fatter person to get lipo done it is easier for the doc.'s quality of job done not to be noticed,,but I know a guy from the gym who was pretty lean and got lypo done on his chest cause he had fat tits(guess from being fatter as a child) and he has one pec that looks way better than the other..poor guy is even more afraid to take off his shirt..so I would think the abs would be the same way..the quality of work will be more visible on a leaner individual.

Sounds like it could be a good horror story. Somebody PM John Carpenter!
