I have been really trying to bring up my back and I started deadlifting Jan of 2006 as I never have before......I kinda self taught myself this movement and I do not have anybody at my gym that is a powerlifter or bodybuilder for that matter to critque my form so the best place to go is here......

This is my second working set 545x7 as I did 600x5 for my personal record right before this....Oh yeah I thought I did 600 in my last blast but It was 585...for some reson the one brain cell I have left in brain thought that 6 plates on eash side was six hundred but its not apprently...lol....I don't wear a belt as I dont' have one and never thought I would need one.....I don't think i am gonig to use one either

Anywho any critiques or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.....

Those looked great to me. Very strong.
 
Extremely strong back. One thing I did notice was that you didn't sink your hips at the beginning of the lift. Your butt went up and then your back pulled the majority of the weight. Goes to show how extremely powerful your back is.

That is fine, but if you have a bad lower back it could exacerbate the problem. Sinking your hips just allows you to use more lower body in the lower, more dangerous, portion of the lift.

Keep up the hard work!!

Alter- after reviewing the film I was thinking the same thing......I thought I should "sit" more when I start my pulll....thanks alot for your insight...
 
Looks good to me. That bar was riding right on your shins and over the kneecaps. Your hips could be a bit lower during that initial pull but no big deal. You are very strong. Deads will add thickness to your back like nothing else. I love 'em
 
In my opinion you shouldn't worry about "sitting" too much... maybe just a bit more. By sittint down too much you'll just be moving your hips further away from the bar, and using your quads to squat the weight up rather than pull with your back.

Thats exactly what i was thinking. Now if your just trying to 'move weight' then id say sink the hips, but if your trying to work your back then i think your form is perfect.
 
Thanks again you two, I know what you are saying.....Working my legs isn't such a bad thing for me as I have knees problems that don't allow me to be able to train them heavy so getting a little "legwork" in by sitting just a little bit more won't be such a bad thing...

Those were good deasd BD!! I have a saying when I teach clients how to dead. Bar before butt. Meaning what the others have said, The bar should start to come off the floor before the butt rises in the air. You could probably put more leg drive into those deads. This will have the added advantage of being able to move more weight. It is a tough lift to master but when you do!!!! OH BOY! Overall very strong. I get trainees to practice what I call "The first pull, which is Pulling the bar from the floor to kneecap height but with your hip drive not your lower back. Even practicing these will absolutely F' you up man. It is a partail rep to kneecaps from the floor. No rack! it's a killer but developes lower end strength.

You are right about mastering them.....it is a tough movement to get right....somedays when I deadlift I can really get into the "groove" where as others it just feel plain awkward......Thanks again for the good advice...much appreciated...

the only thing that i didnt care for was how you just threw your feet under after you wrapped and started pulling. i like getting set up first. strong nonetheless.

you should toss in some rack deads every few weeks as well...it'll help you on the top end of the movement (the portion you didnt get on the last rep), and you'll be able to use much more weight...

Yeah sometimes I don't take my time with the set up and just "grip it and rip it" when I should get set better.....

Thanks alot flex......I haven't done rack that much (Maybe 4-5 times) so I shold add these into my next blast......

I Have a target weight on racks that I would like to get to as last time I tried it with Troponin I got buried on it and it has been haunting my psyche ever since...lol....

Nose, thanks man....they sure didn't feel like funny plates...hopefully one day this weight will....I will be ecstatic!!

Lynx....thanks too, yeah just a little more "sit" I I think i might be able to get a couple more reps on this weight and move up a little in the next couple workouts...

I am weighing right aroun 265 right now.....This is the leanest by far I have ever been at this weight.......
