Gyms In Vegas?

Myself and 3 of my buddies will be travelling to Vegas for the Olympia this year.2 of them are competing when we get back,so they will be wanting to train while we are there.We will probably check out a different Gym everyday.I have trained at Golds on Flamingo.How far away is the Golds at Lake Mead from the Strip ? Any other suggestions ? We are staying at the Orleans.It looks like a basic/budget hotel ! Anyone else stayed there before ? I have stayed at Ceasars Palace,THE Hotel and Palazzo previous years,all very nice.We decided we wanted to stay at the Orleans basically because the Olympia is held there.

orleans aint too bad....as long as you got a car pretty much any golds is about 20 min

Is a decent place to stay...it aint the Hard Rock... but its a bed & shower..

Everything is so jacked up for Olympia weekend. Can't stay anywhere on the strip for regular prices. I actually got a great deal at the Orleans, so my wife and i are happy with that. I've also heard they have a free shuttle to the expo multiple times per day.

The Gold's on Flamingo is, by far, my favorite, but the Sahara location comes in second. The others are too fluffy for my tastes.

The equipment is pretty worn out at Flamingo. I go there a couple of times a month just to change things up. Some of the heavier DB's are bent and the machines are old as hell. But I always get a good workout there....

BTW, The only Golds here that people would consider "fluffy" is the newest one on Stephanie.

i live here and have worked out at golds for a few years.
The flamingo golds you've already been too is a good gym, not a crap health club like the others around. The lake mead gym is pretty close to a health club but they do have 1 section off the side behind glass that is all free weights so its not bad if you hang out in there. The drive is going to be about 15-20 min depending on your route.
The gym on Sahara and Decatur (also the closest to you) is my favorite. Never crowded, not a lot of eye candy to distract you. They have a lot of the important things like squat racks, benches, etc.. in rows so you don't have to wait on things.
I also found it cool cause a lot of pro's would be in there, either visiting or local hero's like Cutler and some of the figure pro's.
I would hit that gym, steer clear of the 24hr fitness, lvac, and any of the other golds locations around you unless you want to hit the one on the north side on Craig road, similar to decatur's.

BTW, The only Golds here that people would consider "fluffy" is the newest one on Stephanie.

You definitely have to work around some old, worn out equipment. But I'll take that over the plastic, shiney feel of the stephanie, eastern, or summerlin locations.

bro i trained at the golds on sahara & decatur for 4 months while i stayed there,they had a huge sign saying "GOLDS GYM HOME OF MR OLYMPIA JAY CUTLER",i didnt see him there once,but the gym is pretty decent i enjoyed my stay,in the am was perfect time it was empty....

They have the same sign hanging at the Lake Mead gym and probably the Flamingo gym.

Ive seen him there tons of times. Talked to him a few times as we worked side by side. I was working out on lunch break back then, around 11am. Ive seen him at flamingo and lake mead as well. Ive also seen pics of him at all 3 gyms so id have to say hes there. He doesn't hang there 24/7 lol. I'm sure the dude has a somewhat busy schedule promoting and what not.
