Hike on the Elwha

the Olympic Mountains in Washington State may be small compared to the Rockies in Montana, but they are young and still packing on the mass. Here is a picture overlooking the Elwha river from Wedding point. Disregard the old guy behind the rock.

That's spectacular country. Post up some more! We love this stuff. It allows us to take a break from the everyday drudgery of concrete and highways. Nice one!

by popular demand here is a view from a sandbar up the Elwha. Notice how the river is eroding the banks on either side.

We camped in this field. We counted 26 deer. I didn't get a picture of the bear that came out of the woods and circled the herd. He kept to the shadows. The deer acted as if he wasn't there.

This is looking south across the lake impounded by the upper Elwha dam. The Olympics have some of the lowest glaciers due to the heavy precipitation.

That is breathtaking. Great shots. keep em coming. I could sit and look at these and daydream all day long. Beautiful!

Next weekend I'm off to the Cascade Mts. not exactly sure where. Maybe east of Mt. Rainier or off of Stevens Pass. Of course I will bring my camera.
