The Full Throttle Kustomz twin-turbo 2007 Mustang GT
You might not think it from his laid back personality, but Ray McClelland of Full Throttle Kustomz builds some pretty impressive cars. In his soft spoken voice, he'll inform you that this particular Mustang makes over 1200 horsepower to the rear wheels. This custom 2007 Mustang convertible is undoubtedly one of the more extreme Mustangs you'll ever see.

This Mustang started life as a black GT convertible, although it didn't stay that way for very long. When the FTK guys first got a hold of the Mustang, it was essentially stripped down and completely rebuilt. The heart of the car is its motor, which was completely rebuilt by D.S.S. Racing. The stock block was used, but it received forged pistons, rods, and crankshaft that also pushed the displacement out to 5.0 liters. Crane Cams supplied a custom-ground camshaft, and a custom intake manifold was built to take in the extra air coming from a 67mm twin-turbo system from Turbo Horsepower. Finally, an Aeromotive fuel system ensures the motor can keep up with the extra air coming in, and a Nitrous Xpress direct port nitrous system was added for good measure. When all is said and done, the FTK Mustang produces more than 1200 horsepower at the wheels.

Handling all of that horsepower is a tough job, but FTK enlisted the help of BMR Fabrication for a suspension system that could put the power to the ground. The car received a full BMR suspension and chassis upgrade with new upper and lower control arms, tubular panhard rod, heavy duty sway bars, Tokico D-Spec shocks and struts, and Ground Force springs. The drivetrain received significant upgrades as well with a custom 6-speed transmission built by D&D Performance, a McLeod ceramic twin-disc clutch, and a custom 9-inch differential with 4.11 gears. A Wilwood 14-inch brake kit ensures adequate stopping power.

The exterior of the car is just as extreme as the powertrain. The black paint was converted to a custom Dupont Tangerine with white pearl stripes. A custom body kit was fitted with side exhaust, functional ram air hood, and shaved door handles, antenna, trunk lock, and all emblems. Black Makaveli 3 piece 20" rims are on all four corners, and an LSD vertical door kit adds to the exotic look.

Inside the FTK Mustang is relatively low-key compared to the rest of the car. A full roll cage from Rigid Race Cars was installed, with a Classic Design convertible light bar fitted neatly around it. Custom suede seats with racing harnesses also went into the car, along with an EclipseAVN5500 CD/DVD player with Navigation and a US Blinder laser jammer.

Damn! That's WICKED!!!

All cool apart from the doors. That is just so try hard. Get a Lambo if you want those doors.

why would you have 4.11 gears with that much hp? You are just going to spin your tires till you hit about 120mph.

i doubt it will do too much racing... its just another impressive thing to list when in car shows.

I agree. I hate those damned Lambo doors.....on non-Lambos of course.

As for the gears, you are right, they are useless in that car.
With twins, that should be using much higher gearing, like in the 3.08-3.27 range honestly, to hook reliably and not wind out too quickly.....
I am using 3.55's and it still is a bit too low of gearing for my car with the turbo....

Its mainly a show car, but will be dropped down under 1000hp for a cross country type race in Sept.

Depends on what the gears are in the transmission. It could work if it's geared right.

well, unless they have some custom tranny like a Jericho or something, i'm thinking its not very practical. Friends of mine are very big into the import scene, mainly supras, and those cars are now pushing 1200+rwhp and even with drag radials on the back, on the highway, they still will have horrible wheel spin from 60+ mph and those cars only have 3.27 gears

The specs say this car has a custom built transmission so it may just work. This car would appeal to the collector for sure. I don't really care for the lambo doors but there are people that do. I'm sure we'll see this car auctioned off at one of the auctions. 1200hp is a LOT!

I have wheelspin to 65mph with 550hp and a car that weighs 2300lbs. This isn't rear wheel HP either!
The car is a rocket from 100-160mph! This car might be the same way.

Mustangs are American guys cars. They don't translate anyplace but the US. I bought a Cobra R in 2000 and have a 2007gt vert in the driveway. I drive the 07stang mostly in the winter oddly enough, it handles well because of the weight. I have a Jaguar S-Type R for my daily and I seriously believe that everyone on the planet should own one of these cars, it's that awesome.
I just wonder why it's always the mustang that ppl put 100k worth of mods into. I'm sure the mustang is the blue collar corvette, but not after u dump 100k of mods into it.

lol BigA. So played out, Lambos don't even have them!

Link

Thats a good pic, but it's a Gallardo. Murcielagos do have the gullwing doors.

Oh, and BigA didn't Mercedes have the first gullwings with the Silver Arrow? :D

Lambos don't have gullwing doors, but scissor doors :p

It all comes down to what gears the transmission is using as to how agressive the ring and pinion gear can be (and still be usable on the highway).
Something with a really high OD ratio would work just fine (although if it was me I would have used 3.73 or 3.90).

If the car is pushing 1200 rwhp, I'd say it's a safe bet it's a custom transmission.

1200 hp! How can you drive it? Mine has 465hp and it's all I need.
