Ok guys I have been reading articles for about an hour so please don't tell me to do some research.
I just want to know how many sets one should perform for each bodypart.
Here is my workout schedule:
day one chest
day two back
day three shoulders
day four arms
day five legs
I miss a day a week so I am at the gym 6 times a week
for chest, shoulders, back and legs I do about 12-14 sets
and for arms about 8 sets
rep range is typically 6-10
question: are these appropriate numbers of sets?

depends

10 different guys will give you 10 different answers. are you gaining on this routine? if so, it works for you. if not it's because you spend too much time in the gym. 3-4 days max for me with plenty of rest days to recoup. i like my reps in the 12-20 range with moderate weights and lots of contraction. 6-8 sets per bodypart. others prefer 6-8 reps with one working set following a few warm-up sets. i have found over all the years i've been working out...it's all trial and error for your body-type, recouperative abilities, diet, supplements etc.

Bro... different strokes for different folks.

Not the answere you are looking for, I know...

Go to the workout logs and you will find some good info.
Or even Bodybuilding.com has a workout builder.
Its not for me, but if you are starting it out, it will give you some good ideas.

Hire Phil Hernon and get all the answers to your questions. Save yourself a lot of time, trial and error and asking questions that you wont like the answers to. Hey, you might even gain a new friend.

I do 1 exercise per bodypart...but you have to do it the right way.

In the words of the scientist from the film I watched last night (I Robot)... your asking the wrong questions.

No one can really give you the right answer for you. You learn through experience. There are some rough guildlines but you probably have read them before. Different methods work at different times and for different people. Follow the advice you are getting from JS and use it for other training days. If your going the gym that often you defo need a low volume approach.

How can anyone answer that? There is alot of factors that determine that. EX: years of consistant working out, age, goals, AAS or natural, Health conditions, Diet. You see what you are asking?

far to many variables for any1 to answere for you.

However something to take into account and think about. Big A gaining protocol on here advises around 3 working sets per bodypart. Phil recomendeds something similar altho different and changes it.

DC training is 3 sets rest pause -

there seems to be a link here of around 3 working sets IMO and i have found it worked very well for me hitting a bodypart more than once a week. ie 6-8 times per months = more oppertunity for growth than just 4 x per month altho this works for some.

you then have some guys here in the uk training a bodypart once every 8/9 pays but with more volume and getting very good results.

Different strokes for different folks etc etc. experiment. find what works best for you. thats the fun part and as long as your nutrition is good you will grow along the way :)

training is very individual.... these DC training , fst-7 , HIGH VOLUME.ETC ETC and all other kinds.... they all work..... but not by themselves... its we who make them work for us.... now how do we do that?
by tryin to follow the program to its strictest sense, understanding every component of the program....by doing that YOU BECOME THE MASTER OF THE TRAINING SYSTEM, YOU MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU.IT SERVES YOU
for ex DC why he has asked to do rest pause..... and not to do in some other cases.
why only one exercise/ body part
why did he increased the frequency... of working a bodypart
why the painful extreme fascia stretching...
why to go for more wts or reps every workout....and things like these.

Dusty hanshaw can get some great gains from this DC training, and even when ronnie coleman knows about DC training.... why the hell is he not doing it... because.... he has mastered the components of his own training system.....

and thats the reason i say training is very individual....

i would suggest try making your program as enjoyable as possible at the same time it gaurentees you Progression....

Gentlemen
thank you once again for the information you have provided

My best answer would be continously shock your body. Use that schedule for a couple months then change to something different. Different such as full body, high sets low reps, low sets high reps, DC, etc....

Reading articles for a whole hour?

My, you have done some real research, haven't you! In muscle magazines, no doubt...
