Hi guys , a few months back my right elbow started to ache so i took extra time to warm up before doing any extension excercise and all was good just a bit tender but nothing really bad...

I was doing chest, shoulders and triceps today and did my bench with zero problems then did push down with no problems and did side set of laterals warm up with 20's and all was good so i grabbed the 50's and did 5 reps when WAMMO... a unbelievable pain shoot into my elbow area like a knife..
I set the weights down and stopped and went right upstairs and put ice on it for 20 minutes then heat pad for 20 minutes and now ice again..

i casn not make a fist without stabbing pain... i can not flex or contract without the pain of about 7-8 out of 10... there is some swelling but no discoloring and everything appears to be intacted and i heard no snap crackle or pop...but holy shit it kills to move ...

I have no insurence so it is not like i can go and get it looked at so before i go and drop soem dough i was hoping to get soem feedback and thoughts..

I had tendonitus about 10 years ago from tennis and this is a hell of alot more painful then that.... what do you guys think is going on?? Thanks

doesnt sound to me that you did too much damage.i have a similar problem with my tricep/elbow area.if nothing popped or snapped i think your good.just let it heal.there is nothing you can do about those sharp pains(inflammation of tendons).just have to work around them.(do things that dont aggravate it)
later

I would see a doctor and get an opinion.

i canbarely move my arm 12 hours later and when i do it is about 30% and hurts like nothging i ever felt when i try to go more then 45'...

Get on top of it!

If it hurts as much as you say, can you at least get to a physiotherapist or something ASAP?? (If doctors too expensive)

Keep icing for at least 48 hours and get onto the anti-inflamatorys. Sounds like its just a bad sprain but the faster you get it to heal the better it should heal.

Hope you get better, Ive had problems with my elbows before and they can niggle for months, especially with heavy tricep work.

If you cant get to doc, it sounds like forearm splints to me. If you are not sure what these are your tendons lay in a valley warn into your bones. Sometimes certain excercises make these tendons pop out of the valley they originally were in and it causes severe pain. This may or may not be your case. I can say it is quite debilitating when they do occur. A simple test is to wrap the arm and do the same test. This will keep the tendon in it's valley that was designated and if the pain is a good amount better when wrapped this may be an indication. There really is no cure for this problem. If you do indeed have it, it will subside after a period of time where it 1. finally stays in the valley it originally had or 2. wears another new valley. Usually the first is what happens. But again wrapping it may tell you a little more about it. I used to get them from straight bar curls. The pain was so intense, I almost couldn't let go of the bar after a set. I had to let go extremely slow for it not to kill me. But as the rest said, you might want to go see a doc to verify you didn't do any serious damage. Good luck man.

Good luck man, and I know you dont like meds, but how about Aflutop? That is, unless you decide to go to a doctor.

hey Bud,
See a doc! I just tore my tricep tendon and had surgery this past Thursday. Ortho said that if I hadn't have had it repaired I would only end up with about 60% usage of my tricep. My symptoms were very similar to yours except that I heard a distinct TEARING sound, like the way cloth tears when you tear it in half........

wELL I HOPE I DID NOT MISS THE TEARING SOUND AS I TEND TO BE FOCUSED DURING A SET AND SE AND HEAR NOTHING AROUND ME FOR THAT BRIEF PERIOD..

i MAY HAVE TO BREAK DOWN IN A FEW DAYS IF IT DOES NOT GET BETTER.. I REALLY WILL HAVE IT LOOKED AT IF IT DOES NOT GET BETTER..Thanks MHP
