Deadlift World Record in sight

Yesterday in the Icelandic Powerlifting Championships, Benedikt Magnusson(the kid in the video) squatted 405kg, Benched 275, and deadlifted 410kg. He still lost. Audunn Jonsson beat him and totaled 1117kg. He squatted 432, benched 300, and deadlifted 385. Not too bad!

World record very close

I read that Benedikt Magnusson attempted 425kg(935lbs) on Saturday but missed. I didnt realize how close he was. There is a photo on Ironmind.com in the news section.
The world record will be changing hands very soon!

You never know he might hold the all time powerlifting world record some day. He's a big kid. I think around 6' 330lbs.
One thing ive learned is that powerlifting totals and strongman can be pretty different. Magnus ver Magnusson still dominates the Iceland Strongest Man contest over Benedikt. Magnus is twice his age and he wins almost every event. Benedikt is more powerful than Magnus as far as powerlifting totals, but he does not have the athleticism of Magnus.
Magnus likes to joke with the guys in the Iceland Strongest man, " Do you guys have to wait till im 70 years old to beat me."
