IForce parent firm pleads guilty in steroid probe
11:35 PM Jan 21, 2011BOISE, Idaho (AP) -

A supplement company investigated by the Food and Drug Administration has pleaded guilty to manufacturing and distributing steroid-tainted supplements.

Tribravus Enterprises, which does business as IForce Nutrition in California, agreed to a deal that would require it to pay a $125,000 fine for pleading guilty to the felony charge.

The charges resulted from a search warrant executed in 2009 that allowed FDA investigators to search the headquarters of bodybuilding.com, a company based in Idaho that distributed the IForce products. The affidavit filed for the search warrant listed more than 60 products sold by the company that contained five controlled substances or designer steroids.

So they were basically using "banned" prohormones in their clone products? if that is all they did then it is against the law but atleast not a scumbag move (just tried to keep customers happy but at the companies risk) but if they are actually spiking products with hormones that people may not want in them then that is fucked up. Anyone know?

These weren't "banned" when they were being sold. I forgot the last one shouldn't be Reservitrol, but it should be Bold(EQ-Plex, unmethylated 1,4AD).

These were just designer steroids. Nothing "illegal" at the time.

Oh wait, am I mis-reading it. 60 products had 5 or more substances in them?

I thought of 60 products, 5 of them had controlled substances in them.

Sounds like maybe the non - hormonal supps got ran down the belt without the belt getting hosed off. I remember about a year ago when some NFL player pissed hot and provided a list of supps he took and claimed the manufacturer of his legal supps slipped something else in.
This is risky business for supp companies and they need to beware of this sort of thing as it opens them up to lawsuits to anyone who makes similar claims.

Most likely what happened ^^^

Some production places don't always clean off the machines after being done with them. Who ever wrote it really didn't get facts straight or supply enough of them.

Well here in my neck of the woods H-tech Pharamceuticals in Norcrcoss Ga was spikng their ED drugs with sidenofil (viagra) amongs others "spikes". Their original somatomax had ambien and there were others. If i want pharmaceuticals Ill go that route!. The ceo Jared (last name slips my mind) is in federal prison. Thats why the Dietary supplemant act of 1994 may not be so bad after all. I want to know what I am putting in my body. Dont you? Not cool to spike supplements with pharmaceuticals or banned supplements. Who knows the doses involved since its alway "propritary." Atleast when ya buy a 100 mg of viagra from phizer ya know what ya gettin. What about contraindications to heart patients? Could be fatal if ya think your gettin a natual supplement. Google Hi-tech you will see. I no longer cary in my facilities. They worked too good.

i agree some good comes from this, unfortunately a lot of useful supplements get banned. also there a many cheap supplements that can treat many ailments that become script only, forcing someone to spend tons of cash to see a doc and get a script for something basic that should be available freely

I agree in the sense that it's definately good to know exactly what is in a supplement.

But also, the FDA approves/disapproves things based more on politics than science. Most of the stuff people put in their bodies they have no idea about, and the FDA does an extremely poor job of safeguarding them. (however careless they may be)

Agree but the "proprietary ingredient" thing must go. Big turn off. Whats the harm in just disclosing what dosages are in each product. Makes me think they got something to hide. We deserve to know and I personally stay away from any otc product that sates this.
