INCREDIBLE STORY

In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University .

On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully.

He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant's foot and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot.

The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away. Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter couldn't help wondering if this was the same elephant. Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure.
He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs and slammed his stupid ass against the railing, killing him instantly.
Probably wasn't the same elephant

Brought tears to my eyes....HAHAHAHAHAAH

HAHAHA!

I love touching stories like this.

I guess I'm the only one that doesnt find this funny but sad. Even if it was true event the guy thought he might have made a connection wit the animal and then lost his life. I know this is fiction but still. Not very funny in my opinon.

I love these kinds of stories! Kinda like a sweet children's fairy tale where the troll eats the kid at the end.

The point is the guy in the story is an idiot. He darwin'ed himself. What did he think he was going to do? Lay with the elephant and cuddle, thinking about the good 'ol days? He climed over a railing that is there to keep people out just to re-establish a relationship with a wild, trapped bull elephant.
Just because you stick your hand in a fire and dont get burned, doesnt mean you can do it again and not expect to be hurt. Nature has a perfect way of weeding out the dumb...and man has a way of allowing them to keep reproducing their dumb genetics because they think its "sad."

I never said he wasnt an idiot its just sad thats all. He felt he made aconnection with the animal wild or not. I run a animal shelter so i know what its like to have connections with animals. Just found the story sad.

i was just making a joke.........no offense

eh if it were true. connection or no connection a caged wild animal should not be messed with. hell if it were true you gotta wonder how many times that elephant challenged some dumb ass to get in there.

I currently have a few HUNDRED red tail boas, ball pythons and leopard geckos. I breed reptiles as a side hobby/side business. I love animals. I have a zoo.

I thought it was funny!
