http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p4RQCnbEc8&feature=related

So, last night around 2am (dont ask me why i was up)... Im checking out Youtube and found this little video.

Have you ever been the gym and shorted yourself? You know, you could have done that extra rep but didnt, you could have added a set, but didnt, the intesity just wasnt there. I had one of those days yesterday...

So anyway, to make a long storey short... I watched the video at 2am...but 2:30am I was back at the gym to finish my workout. My wife thought i was a bit off, if you know what i mean, but it just had to be done. I should have slept, but it was just eating at me...

Anyway, I am also coming to realize that lifting is the easy part... the diet is the hard part. I love the weights, its my escape from reality, the time I just zone out and push myself. As for the diet.... I feel like all i do is eat, that my day is revolves around when I can get in the meals i need to get in to get to my 300-350g protein or 500g carbs (not as easy as one might think). I do my best to only eat when I feel my body is ready to eat, that i have some sort of hunger...but if too much time passes, i get worried that i wont fit it all in. (ever wish Tuna was candy flavored .:D )

So, although Jay does represent the "the life of bodybuilding", I wish someone would make a video about the food sacrifies that are made, that the simple fact is that i dont get a snickers because i want one, I dont get to have a coke, or go eat some fries... while the rest of society is at McDonalds, Im at the store, buying chicken and Tuna...for the 4th time this week....oh and the eggs... man i just love having them every morning.

But you know something... i wouldnt go back... at the end of the day... I love this shit! I know i have a LONG ASS way to go, that most likely I will never hit get anywhere close to the image i see in my head everyday, but everyday is one step closer. Everyday I get stronger and leaner, and my body changes just a little bit.... it may not be noticable, but there is a change and if i put enough of those days together... i will start to show improvements and change my overall apperance.

(as I sit here, eating my 10 egg whites, 1 cup of oatmeal, banana, and energy drink and all i can think is...what's next on my list)

Anyway, just a rant...sorry for the novel...)

I admire your motivation, but you fail to see alot of the truth from videos, magazines, and all the hype out there. Here is the real deal right here. Jay Cutler DOES drink Coke, right after he shoots all that insulin. He is on enough GH he could eat a pizza every day and it would not hurt him, look at his head man!! Ronnie Coleman eats a bunch of bbq sauce on everything practically right up to showtime. Not to mention, I'm sure most of these guys lie about what they do anyways, nobody is supposed to be on a workout video eating a pizza, or only doing 45 minutes in the gym. All I'm saying is this, dont swallow everything you see/hear whole, I'd say about 40% is true, the other 60% is bullshit

60%....like your post....I don't mean to call you out but unless you know first hand what anyone is taking and/or doing you shouldn't be speculating either. And if you do know first hand, that would probably mean you're a friend and that isn't cool to be broadcasting someone's business either.

I agree with you 100%. Jay is not very dedicated at all and doesn't even workout very hard, oh and he's a jerk to everyone he meets, and wouldn't even place in a local contest if not for all those "drugs" he shoots in his body:rolleyes:

I JUST WANT TO GO AND TRAIN. Thanks for the link.

yeah, those videos are very motivating. for some reason, i prefer the kevin levrone or dorian yates videos but its the same basic idea, get after it!!!

Dorian's video Blood and Guts is probably, in my opinion, the most intense and motivating video I have ever seen in bodybuilding. That shows the difference between wanting and doing. I wanted to throw up watching him train

Some of the looks Yates has on his face in Blood and Guts are priceless.. INTENSE.

ha ha ha ha ha hahhhhhaaaahahahahahahahahahahahhaha

and no im not laughing at you, im laughing with you! :D

It all boils down to genetics.

I don't care what the pros eat or take, considering everything else is equal, it all comes down to genetics.

Take 2 bodybuilders who do everything the same, but one is a 300 pounder freak and the second is 220 average, what does that tell you?

This video is very motivational, however, most of us will never attain a physique like that no matter how hard we trained or how consistent we eat.

Man he's massive!

I dont even want a physique like that. I personally think the tapered look is far more appealing. Dexter's gonna win every one in my book, I even think Phil Heath is going to end up too big.

in ripped to shreds you can see how disciplined he is about diet.

the dude is real scientific about everything. he also gets alot of deep tissue work. he has some nerve issues, and has to try to work around it-- it is not like he does not face any of the issues others have

cutler is very motivated, even with the marketing. he does many more appearances than he really has to.

plus all those contracts are not just handed to them, they have to know how to promote themselves. a good view into this is Toney Freeman's interview on mdtv.

oh God, condemn me to hell for giving you the real truth and ruining your workout videos and your little dream world. Unless I know first hand? well buddy I do know first hand. I've witnessed a pro shoot so much insulin he had to eat a bag of Reese's and about 5 Pay Day candy bars to compensate for the drop in glucose levels after his workout. Also, I just did a shoot for a magazine and answered a Q&A part. They asked me about my training and I told them it was instinctive, and that my diet was instinctive. You know what they did? They threw it back at me and said "we dont care if you need to lie, we want a schedule w/ numbers of sets and reps" So you see my friend, your the one who is wrong, not me

I need it

I hear you and Im not disagreeing totally. If it were not for the mags growing up, I wouldve never achieved what I have so far. In most gyms there is no one around to tutor you on BB. Its all trial error for some of us. I made tons of log books to determined what worked for me and what didnt. I also needed ideas from mags on exercises diets etc. I agree with you some of it is BS to sell mags and Pro's image but not all of it. Without someone better, bigger, stronger I would have nothing to shoot for. Nope I wont be a Ronnie or a Jay but they still offer info I wont get on my own in the gym looking at the mirror.
Too see BB in action lifting and grunting away, shows how hard some work. Without that I have nothing to measure myself against.

I am the biggest at 270lbs, tallest at 6'4" and strongest overall...In my gym. This leaves little to push me further except for these guys that most of us dream about getting as big as someday.

Jay can afford to eat tons of sushi every year, Im jealous.

True, but it only takes a few magazines to get what you need now. Back in the day I'm sure they were more informative and article based, but now it's nothing but a bunch of ads. The workouts dont change, and neither do the movements. But fortunately, we have chat forums and I've learned about 1000x more here than any videos or magazines.

It boils down to dedication!!!!!!!!!!

Consistency = Champions

No matter what you are doing---

Yes Jay has good genetics but guess what..... He was not just born with the damn muscle. If you worked out as consistently as he did and ate as well as he does on a regular basis even without any drugs you would be amazed at the changes you could make.

Great thread...I'm headed to the gym now, and needed the extra push

not dedicated? does not work out hard? i hope you were being sarcastic.
