This lift is the culmination of about 16 weeks of hard work for my friend Jeff Fiss. This is a straightforward tripod shot of him squatting well over 800 lbs with no editing other than a little color correction.

Even with nothing done to enhance the clip the lift is impressive! The energy, commitment, brute strength and technical prowess of the man is evident. However, over the next few weeks I’m going to use additional hand-held footage I shot that night to develop this into something that better communicates the power and intensity of the lift, and I will show you how I do it.
I will take you through every step of the process, posting each variation of the clip as I edit it and showing some of the work it takes to do it. I will show you the raw footage, my mistakes, and false starts and do my best to let you in on some of my editing secrets. I want to demonstrate for you the process I use to come up with creative ideas to make clips like this more emotional and more entertaining.
As I always say, “Art is in the editing!” With this clip I’m going to show how I do it.
Stay tuned!!
