This is Rob, he has been following my prep for the Junior Cal on June 21 and is also competing at the NPC Los Angeles on July 19.

He is looking sharp and should do well in both shows. I have been working with him off season and doing his prep for the shows. He is 10 days out from the first show.

He looks great Alex, Nice abs,

Alex,

I think he can look much better with some different posing. In that front relaxed, with his hands supinated more, lats spread and shoulders back, he'd look 20lb larger.

He looks pretty good. I like the striations in the delts especially.

Tell him to stop wearing socks when tanning.:)

I agree. He looks twice as thick in the side chest than he does from the front and i think its because of the posing. Its making his delts appear much smaller than they are.

Otherwise, he looks like he's ready. I know he's going to really tighten up a lot with your last week protocol too.

Rob is 5'9n and 1/2" and is about 208 right now. He has basically 5 weeks for the L.A. That was his goal, to come in hard for the LA championships in either the lightheavies or heavies.

He decided to do the Junior Cal since the show is so close and he is nearly ready. And he will do very well at the Junior Cal.

I have been telling him to work on the posing, since posing can make all the difference in your apperance and placing.

The problem is people tend to make posing practice a low priority when it should be a serious part of the plan.

I try to take posing practice very serously myself and advocate it to others.

But I can only do so much when helping somone. I appreciate all your guys input, it really helps make a point when others say the same thing.

I am VERY glad you've come to this site. I admire your physique, your knowledge and wonderful attitude. All the guys you help are dry as hell for shows.

You are a positive addition to the board! Please tell your friend how great he looks for me.

I hear ya there. It really needs to be a year 'round thing, as much as that might suck when you're not in shape (which doesn't apply to you, Alex... :) ).

Another way to make the point is to say that good posing can add 10lb of muscle to his appearance, which I think seems to be entirely true in his case from the pics you've posted. If he could simply add 10lb to his appearance with 10min of posing / day would he do that?... Shit, 10lb of stage weight for a high level, seasoned competitor is a good couple years worth of work (if not many more)... Good posing is so much of an easier way to come by that appearance.

I'm thinking of the expeditors backstage giving guys the option: "OK, men's light-heavies... Good posers who who want an extra 10lb of stage muscle, stand here, everyone else here. You're on next!"

Thanks, I appreciate that. I try to do my best . And can say that I will not slack off or not do what i need to do

I take it very seriously. As you know, competing is costly, time consuming and takes allot of effort.

I go to allot of shows here in Los Angeles and all over Calif as I help my wife, and Bill Comstock, who are the official photographers for promoter Jon Lindsay

.. And Jon puts on a lot of great shows through out the year.. I often see many guys with great shape, allot of muscle, and a ton of potential.

The one thing i notice more on a competitor is condition.. And to me it is very important. It is something totally in your control so that is one major area I will not let suffer. I will not let anyone putting their prep in my compete not in superb condition.

I agree with you bro! Posing has to be a major part of your prep for a show. I advocate about 25-30minutes of structured practice each day starting at 6 weeks out. It sure cant hurt.

I advocate some practice in a mirror and some not.. I usually have my wife run me through the manditories for several minutes each day..

She becomes a big help to me...right here..And I try to re inforce this with guys im helping. I can always tell when I go to a show, who practiced thier posing.

.And like you said, the way you pose can add size to your physique just as much as being super conditioned and having a nice color on stage can.

He looks great Alex and like all of your athletes looks to be on track to be shredded.

Thanks Dusty! Rob already looks better from his last show.. We are pacing ourselves here for the Los Angeles Championships, so there is plenty of time to dial in more...
