Anyone familiar with this antibiotic? Will it interfere with cycle? Side effects they say are joint pain and tired feeling! I have an absessed tooth!

I have had a few abcessed teeth and I would not want one again, first you have to get the tooth drilled and drained or the pain will NOT stop, but I would take the keflex for sure.

So it will not interfere with cycle? Have not started it yet! He wants me to take 2,000 mg's (4 of them) first dose to get my blood levels up. Then one 4x daily for 9 days. He wants to cut it out Monday.

I only use antibiotics when absolutley needed. But as mentioned,,,you need it right now. I think they can hurt your gains,,,but you need to get better.

I don't think the antibiotics effect your cycle...its the fact you have an infection bad enough to need antibiotics that will effect your bodies ability to heal its self. Most antibiotics are given for around 10 days. Id say stay on a maintenance dose of test during your antibiotic use period then with in a day or two just pick up where ya left off in your cycle.

I feel it will yes...just from experience, but what is more important?

are you gonna have a good workout and/or cycle while your in pain from your tooth that is INFECTED !?

That's your dentist choice. Follow the antibiotic regimen he/she prescribed. I usually script out Amoxicillin, but Keflex is good also.
As for your cycle, i have no idea. If you were a woman and on birthcontrol, then i would say it would affect the effectiveness of the birthcontrol.

What the antibiotics does is it brings down the swelling and the patient feels better. Even when the swelling goes down and you feel better, your dentist may still recommend a root canal treatment. The abcess never goes away, it will flare up again some time later.
After your antibiotic treatment , you may get a root canal to try and resolve the problem of the tooth being abcessed. But it is up to your dentist on their treatment plan.
On the other note, some of my patients cancel their root canal because it feels better. Then a few weeks later, there is wimpering voice on my office answering machine in the early morning hours pleading to have me fit them in the schedule because that tooth that felt better after the antibiotics treatment decided to flare up big time on them. Some don't listen. Oh well.

Rockefeller. My sig speaks volumes. Remember, you have an abcess. Yes I know you are taking antibiotics-but remember you will always have risidual bacteria in that area. The antibiotics will not get rid of it completely. After the antibiotic treatment, then what?? What if it flares up next month?? But this time you end up getting bacterimia. And those bad bugs circulate around your body and and decides to have a party on your heart valves? Then we get into a whole other mess.
What I'm trying to say is take care of yourself. An abcessed tooth is very serious. I know you are on cycle. Will it interfere?? I do not know? Or maybe a questioned that should be posed is " if my cycle will interfere with my antibiotics?" Like my gym brothers/sisters that come and see me, I ask them to be as honest with me with their health history and cycle history.
