I worked with him in the offseason for a bit, then the prep was about 18 weeks long (the before pics are from 17 weeks out).
I didn't handling his weight training, just told him to keep training how he normally does the final weeks. How you train precontest does not make a huge difference in how you look (assuming you're not doing anything too stupid). It's pretty much all about diet, cardio, supplementation.

Very true. I feel the same too.

Weight training doesn't make much difference. Its mainly the diet. Just changing the diet can have a drastic impact on your body.
 
Carbs were moderate / high in the beginning and were gradually lowered over the course of the prep. Protein was moderate / high and fat was moderate / high but we played around with lowering fats on some days near the end.
Cardio got up to 90 minutes towards the end.

And he got cheat meals pretty much every week.

Did u put him on any high and low carbs day? For example, 5 low carb follow by 1 high carb day.
