When I get bored I tend to do what I call "obscure research". I have found many PubMed & NIH research articles about L-Leucine & BCAA's.
Basically, Leucine stimulates mTOR or the "anabolic switch" AND it is insulinogenic - stimulates insulin release - both very good things in themselves.
Leucine is less expensive than BCAA's, but I have found some research that shows the benefits of BCAA's are worth the extra cost.
Iso-Leucine is 2X more effective as an insulinogenic agent.
One of the metabolites of Valine is Nor-Valine which a potent inhibitor of Arginase - a limiting agent on NO2 synthesis.
BCAA's all the way for me. I add mine to Waxymaize pre & intra-workout.
leucine is especially useful for older (>30/35) bodybuilders. according to studies, it returns protein synthesis efficiency in response to protein intake to levels comparable to younger test subjects. (rats lol)
