Has anyone looked into decifering their muscle twitch fibre ratio's in order to maximize their gains , whether training for muscle strength/power or size. I know the truest and most accurate measure of an individual's muscle fibre composition is via painful muscle biopsy ... Ouch! But there are formula's out there also one can use to pinpoint their own muscle fibre ratio's. e.g squat 1 RM, followed by as many reps as possible @ 80% 1 RM max-
Possible results- 7 or less reps= predominance (50% or more) Fast twitch fibres
-12 or more = predominance (50%or more) Slow twitch fibres
-7-12 reps = approx 50/50 mix Ft/St fibres
Training regime then correlates to results of above test, hence identifying your ideal rep ranges for strength/power and hypertrophy training. Any experienced BB'ers Give any credence to this formula for training and it's ability to achieve results. Thanx.
