I turned 45 a month ago. I planned on posting some pictures then, but I had such a busy month (flew out of state because 2 daughters decided to get married on the same weekend) so I'm just now getting around to posting.

My wife took these yesterday. I stay between 220 and 225 lbs depending on how much food I have gorged on that day. I usually manage to keep to the diet, which is 'eat everything in sight' , but lately I've been slacking and only going thru about a pound of gummy bears per week.

Nice! Crazy lat width and thickness.

So as a judge, what do you consider to be your strengths and weaknesses?

Gummy bears

Norm,

You look great. And better still, nice to find another believer in the "gummy bear" diet. I though I was alone in the universe. (Although I'm a lot more moderate than you.)

I used to have a younger lifting partner in college and after he would do a real heavy lift, I would reward him with a gummy bear. Some strange looks from other buds, but it worked. He never missed a workout.

Congrads on your girls.

Thanks Shelby, deadlifts and weighted pullups have been good to me over the years.

My weaknesses are pretty easy for me to identify:

Could use more quad sweep

MUST IMPROVE hamstring development- a big focus for me lately

Weak calf development- fused ankle means no direct calf work for the right leg so not much hope for this

lol.... posing is pretty weak too!

Strengths ? I think my arm/delt/chest development is pretty balanced and doesn't lag much behind my back, which is probably my best bodypart.

Thanks for the complement and the congratulations. Especially glad to hear I'm not the only gummy bear guy around here! Most people underestimate the power of the gummy bear....

You may be eating some gummy bears, but you still are looking pretty damn good...we all have weaknesses with both are bodies and appetites:D You look just fine.

norm,

Maybe a lot of people here don't know your story, so it would be nice if you can tell them to give them some inspiration and motivation.
you look as big as a house and lean as hell!!! this is actually the biggest i've ever seen you look (even though i know it's not the heaviest you've been).

looks like i have to try this magical gummy bear diet :D
awesome work bro... i'm still 28 and don't look half as good as you do bro! you give me a lot of hope for the next 17 years to come :D

Great looking upper body, norm! :)

Those white socks look awesome too!! :D

Thanks Norm

Now I want gummy bears....they are good, and fat free.....lol.

Gummy Bear Flavor?

I'm 45 too, looking at you I need to start incorporating gummy bears into my program. Dbol flavor?

Its always cool to put a face on the name!

You look great!!!

(I love those bite-sized peanut butter cups myself) :)

Looking great! I am with Phidias, I like the socks.........;)

You look great, I agree with the others, excellent back development. Thick all around upstairs. Congrats on your daughters. That's pretty unusual 2 the same weekend.

As far as the gummy bears, thanks a lot! I had no desire to cheat on my diet at all, but when I read the word gummy bears, my mouth started watering and I'm imagining biting into a red and clear one, then a whole handful!

Again thanks a lot. :D

But if it works, then hell, I'll post the results.

ah yeah i luv gummy bears especially the haribo brand mmmmmm. OH YA looking awesome!

Here's the story, kind of explains why the leg development is lagging behind ( but coming up.... slowly) :

In Jan 2001 I took a 60' lead fall while ice climbing in the Alaska Range. My right leg was shattered and I broke my back in three places. After two weeks a gangrene infection set in and I spent the next 4 months in the hospital.

Some of the leading bone Docs in the country wanted to cut off my leg. They insisted I would be more mobile without it. They told me I would never lead a normal life as long as I kept the leg. It took me 2 years and about 34 operations to get the hang of walking again, but I kept the leg.
Most of the bone in my right leg is from someone else, but all the metal is mine!

Leg strength is still a bit unbalanced, so I do as much unilateral work as possible. Training around the fused ankle is challenging but I'm getting it done!

that is an inspiring story. You would never know that you had those injuries when looking at those pics. you do have a strong will. I know how hard it is when you are down, how hard it is trying to come back. I havent given up yet either. I'm still lifting even after having an arrythmia and getting a defbrillator/pacemaker implanted. I think we bodybuilders have some of the strongest wills on this planet! Grats on looking great.
