hey guys, names colby, new to the site. I have lifted weights from a young age and now have the dream of getting into competing and trying to work toward that pro card. the only problem i have is that im from a very small town in southern VA with no one around to guide me. I have never taken aas, only one cycle of the prohormone hdrol by competitive edge labs. I will be done with my bachelor degree in december or next may and would like to move somewhere that would allow me to get with the right people to start my quest in competing and trying to do all i can with it. a friend from another site told me to put some pics on here to get your guys input how i look now and what direction to go in, so i took these pics after my arm work out last thurs (little bloated from my post workout shake and not the best angles or lighting but its all i have as of now). Stats are just turned 21 years old, 250-255 pounds, 5'11" tall, and still bulking although i try to keep a very clean diet while i bulk. any input or advice on my odds at getting into competing, where to live or who to know, or things i could do to improve my physique would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

Great to have you on board. You have built a really good base it looks like. I am no PRO, but IMHO I would say STOP BULKING! You need to shed some bodyfat. I think others will agree. You are probablly around 15-18% in these pics. You def need to lean up a bit before 'bulking" any more.

I think Phil could do wonders with your physique

IMO, agre with Coastal, You are carrying way too much BF. When you Diet for a show, you will have too drop alot of weight. Your diet isn't as clean as you think.

thanks for the replies so far guys, any advice is greatly appreciated..coastal im so new to the board i dont know who phil is??is that his screen name on here, and could i pm him if he doesnt write on my part of the board??

Clearly you are a big guy, no doubt about that, but it is very
difficult to access what you really look like and / or to comment
on your full potential with the extra body fat.

My advice . . . finish your degree, get a good job, develop and
keep meaningful relationships. Expand your interests beyond
bodybuilding. Do not move just to be closer to the bodybuilding
scene, do not take drugs (AAS or others). Be very selective
when it comes to associating with other bodybuilders and chose
you workout partners very carefully. Eat a balanced diet, train
hard and consistently, don't spend your life in a gym. See a
doctor now and again to get checked out. And ask for a full
blood test when you do. These will prove to be invaluable data
points down the road is you screw up along the way. Respect
your body and do not believe what you read in bodybuilding
magazines. In fact, don't even buy them.

Working out and gaining muscle is not rocket science. Find a
simple gym with basic equipment or buy the necessary tools
and stick them some place where you can work out. Keep accurate
records (photos and written) of your workouts and meals. Most, if
not all the information you require to reach your genetic limitations is
available here. If you feel you are not getting the individual attention
you feel you deserve, then hire one of the many good people on this
board. Just pay attention, learn who to listen to and don't be afraid
to ask questions. Learn to use the "search" function. The combined
experience here is incredible.

Don't be in a hurry. Slow and steady wins the race. And while you are
at it, practice random acts of kindness.

Perhaps not what you asked, for or even what you wanted to hear,
with my advice being worth exactly what you paid for it.

Welcome aboard.
AH hahahaha, Thanks Alfresco, you just saved me a bunch of typing.

Colby there is the voice of reason right there. Yes you do have a good solid foundation. I can see your basic shape there. But you do not need to do these nonsense bulking diets. Why put on 50 lbs only to drop 40 of it and the gain was not what you expected? Just clean up your diet. It is no where near where it should be. You actually have a well balanced physique, just carrying too much body fat. But once you cut that up I think you will be surprised..............and welcome to pro muscle!!:D

hey bro, you have a GREAT base. h-drol IS a steroid though.. but you DEF have potential

thanks guys, quick question. i had planned on cutting when spring hit anyways, but the reason i havent is because i am finally putting some size on in my legs, how will cutting down affect that??and is there anything to do when i cut to help maintain the muscle that i have gained?

Yes..........eat plenty of protein and do not do too much cardio!!! Just do a bit of searching around the articles forumm and in general. Plenty of info you will find useful for what you want do.

Well, the best advice I could give you is to read ALFRESCO's post and to read it again even more carefully.

It's great to have dreams but the one you're chasing seems a little unrealistic to me at the moment. I don't think you really have a clue what it takes to be a pro bodybuilder...

Focus on your life FIRST (career, family, etc...) and dedicate your spare time to that passion for BB if you wish... but not the opposite.

Now don't get me wrong, you have a good base to start with and can truly achieve a great physique over time with some hardwork and knowledge. But don't do it at the expense of things which you'll realize later in life are much more important.

Once again, re-read Alfresco's post.

The voices of experience are speaking to you on this thread...listen!

Yes his screen name is PHIL HERNON. You can PM him. He is very reasonable and you wil not regret it

thanks again guys and believe me i have my priorities in line as far as school and a career. i will be done with my degree soon and i would just like get a good job in more of a city setting and i was thinking if i could do that somewhere that was a good place to train also it would be a win win. there aren't many jobs where i live or people in the gym with experience like you guys have, so thanks for the help so far and hopefully this website will teach me much more than i know now.

yeah i would venture to say more like 18%

good base bro,a good trainer can turn you into a sick physique with proper diet

keep it up bro youre a big dude,

Great comments Alfresco!

Very wise comments Alfresco and extremely meaningful as well. I know people whose entire life surrounds bodybuilding and as much as I like the sport..seeing their sitution is truly an eye opener as well as a sad state of affairs.

Thanks again.

i think you are big as shit, you could maintain the weight eating the same stuff everyday and you might shift your bf% to muscles in months,,,or you could slowly lower cal, play around with diet since you are big enough already. Practice dieting and stuff now.

im 28 but when i was your age or even 5 years ago i would have said F U to all these good advice and just keep doing anything to feed my need with anything everything

but i will tell you after several non bodybuilding life lessons and several bodybuilding life lessons, what alfresco said is the truth, it may take sometime or few mishaps for you to realize FULLY later on what hes saying but at least read what him and others have said like once a month just to remind yourself

ive gotten talks like that real life and on boards from people who really care, i read and listen but as to follow from your heart comes from you but be glad at least there are people that want to help you in life not just bodybuilding. sometimes they may seem preachy (you dont need juice, you dont need to lift all the time etc) but they are trying to help and in reality soon or later its the truth, i am still learning.

slow steady patience be happy

im impatient, negative miserable and almost lost my job lost my girfriend and my health and im still in the gutter,,,at least seeking help through therapy so dont be like me lol, it was mostly due to OCD regarding bodybuilding and look at my pics, im nobody :)

i just joined here too, cool place right?

shit, others boards you might have gotten answers like 'bro you need tren/halo/var/test/winny/ t3/dnp/masteron/lbah blahblabh....." LOL!!!!

Bro keep training hard, clean up the diet a bit and lean out some...but finish up with that degree...Get a good paying job, and dont move to a place where you cant afford to live and pay the bills....Even if you have to stay where your at now, just keep learning and listing to the pep's on the board...

Good luck

chris

If you

If you listen now to these guys and learn from you and are going to be one of the luckiest people around. You are getting clean, clear advice from guys that have been around the sport for 20+ years and they only want the best for you or anyone that gets into bodybuilding.

There are plenty of online trainers from this board that can teach you how to clean up your diet and keep the mass you've built. If you can't afford one (They are very very reasonable), post your diet and people will definitely offer advice as too good and bad parts of it right now.

Best of luck and remember if you can learn from other people's advice and mistakes you will be WAY ahead of most people in this game. Great base by the way!

Think long term bro, because bodybuilding is a lifestyle, you being so young, you have a lot of life a head of you.

Good habbits, should start from the beginning i.e good clean eating all year, cardio, taking care of yourself and ("supplements" are the last piece of the puzzle)

Your a young man and it is awesome to get older and actually get better with age as many have proven is possible. Always remember there is no quick way or shortcuts to greatness.

Quality muscle comes with time.

Thanks for joining the board and Im sure you will learn a lot
