Need to bring my puppy on a 3.5hr flight one way. She is very small. Pug/beagle mix maybe 15lbs max 7months old. So I call SunCountry and they say they have to fit in a soft sided carrier 8" height by 16",etc.. anyway I picked one up but it seems really small. They only had one size that was 10" by 19" by11" but its soft and squishes so I doubt they will be that anal. Here is what I got
**broken link removed**
also whats weird is suncountry has a 16lb weight limit and u.s. airways has a 50lb limit but almost the same dimensions for the carrier. What 50lb dog can fit into something that small. seems odd

Anyway it seems like she is gonna have to be laying down to fit in there. I have to bring her to vet to get a "clean bill of health" the plane company told me and the vet will try a valium or something on her and if she responds well we'll give her one before the flight, but anyway, this is my first time doing this. Any advice? Do they really fit in front under the seat? I've never seen a dog on a plane so I wanna be prepared, so any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I have flown my Jack Russel to Cali and back a couple times in the cab with me , they are actualy pretty laid back about it , I had to open his bag once to give him another "Ace" and all the folks that walked by stopped and said hi. haye your vet give yu some Ace , its a mild tranquilizer and will help them on the trip. I'd recomend that you don't feed them for aboiut 12hrs before the fight and cut back theuir watter a little bit to keep from having any messes.

Can't solve your problem but just want to add that I traveled in Russia this past summer by air and there people just take their dog right on the plane with them, sits in their lap, no case or anything required.

Go figure!

What does your Jack Russel weight? Did you put him in a carrier like the one I listed? Doesnt it seem odd that they only allow carriers to be 8'10" tall, your russell had to be taller than 10" right? Did you just lay down to fit in the carrier? Thanks

He is probably 10" to 12" tall , he was more comfortable when he layed down in the bag and he weigs about 18-20lbs. I flew Delta once and Contenental once and honsetly nobody ever said anything or measured anything on him , they just asked for his slip and all was good. Several of the folks that worked for the airline diden't even know that you were allowed to carry an animal on like that , so best bet is to get some sort of written confermation and have it with you incase you run accross the typical airport dipshit that wants to give you trouble about it.
