offseason low-carb diets or carb cycling offseason

has anyone ever tried a lower carb/high fat approach to offseason eating with refeed/carbup/shitload type weekends thrown in every 1-2 weeks

or maybe something like:
cals 500 over maintenance
training days 300carbs
off days 150 carbs
increase fats to hit your calorie needs
then 1-2 days a week 1g per lb protein; 30 fat; 600-900 carbs


if so -- what did you think

if not -- what are your reasons
 
I normally follow a Palumbo offseason type of diet...This is where I eat about 50 grams of carbs each meal along with some healthy fats, such as Natty PB or Olive oil mixed into the diet...This year, so far I have been pretty loose with my offseason diet so far...But, im not getting fatter, and Im gaining weight pretty well...But, im sure I will go back to more controlled eating plan here in the near future...

Do you do the 8 meals a day per his program? Where does your weight top out at?
