OT-Got my gun

picking up tomorrow some home protection. 12 gauge pump shotgun, holds five shells plus one in the chamber. between possibly getting run away inflation sending the cost of food soaring through the roof and this government wanting to control me, i'm now armed a bit. yes its registered and if this govt. wants to ban guns, they will have to kill me to get mine. i will not gladly turn over my constitutional right to bear arms....

Agree 100%. Have my mossberg maverick 88 (folding stock, 5 in tube, 1 chamber 12 ga 00buck ) my schweet romanian AK-47 (yes registered). just getting $$$ to buy ammo these days. Need to stock up on a few more 1000 packs. And my other 12ga and .410 shotguns that I used for hunting.

Want to get me a nice Ruger .480 and/or a Taurus Raging Bull in .454 casull.

I dont blame you for buying a gun... but its not really "home" protection you should worry about yet - its sitting in McDonalds with your child or playing with your child at the park .... walking through your local mall you should worry about. Mass murders happen in public. I am not about to become a fucking statistic. I carry EVERYWHERE - period.
Right now i own three 9MMs, two matching Colt lightweight 45cal defenders, one snub nose S&W 44 mag with laser site grip, two Al-47s (before the government fucked with the clips) and a Moss. Pump 12g with the pistol grip.
If someone goes ape shit and starts rattling them off anywhere near me, they are getting shot back at - and no i do NOT need a badge in order to protect my family.... just some firepower and balls.

I think that having a firearm for home protection is not only the smart thing to do, but its one of our rights. However, be careful and be responsible. Too often these things end up in the WRONG hands - look for example at the recent tragedy here in Pittsburgh, where 3 officers were killed by a man with an AK-47 (and wearing body armor) after reporting to his house for a domestic dispute call. As they walked to the door he opened fire on them. There was a huge standoff and a couple other officers were injured... I'm bringing this up because my father is a police officer and is heading into the city along with an expected 12-15 THOUSAND officers from around the country for a memorial service today. I have a standing locker full of guns in my house but it just really reminds you to be careful and responsible because there are some seriously crazy people out there that will use their power to do just about anything.

we have a lot of knife crime in the UK and gang related gun crime in major cities but I just cant imagine having to get a gun to protect my home, plus its illegal here anyway.

i was considering taking my girlfriend & kids to the US for a holiday in the near future but there always seems to be so much talk of guns on this site from the US members that its quite a scary thought.

I couldn't agree more. The day after the election I purchased a Smith and Wesson M&P AR15. Total I own 12 guns. 5 of which is for home protection (handguns) Glock .40, Kimber TLE stainless .45 and a Smith and Wesson .357 plus a Mossburg 12 gauge with a pistol grip and the AR15. The others are rifles for hunting.

Problem with relying on yourself via good ole fist of cuff is that 99% of other side carry guns. Most people do not realize this but do you know in the Wild West that shooting were very uncommon and crime was extremely low. The reason was everyone carryed a gun therefore they knew they would be shot if caught. If you look at cities and countries with strict gun laws, they never have low crime levels for the most part (look at DC and New York) as the criminal elements will always posses them illegally. All strict guns laws ever do is take weapons from the law abiding citizens. Anyway this is just my opinion and like assholes everyone has one.

Yeah...

My in home protection is a modified saiga 12 gauge. It is a 12ga ak47 style. However I had to modifie it to a pistol grip and a folding stock. It has a 10 round magazine also. It is fun as hell to shoot. I also have a bulgarian ak74 in the closet along with the shotgun. Under my bed is the xd 40cal pistol(also a very good choice).

If stocking up on Ammo, get those used metal military ammo cans at a gun shop or surplus store and also buy a pack of silica gel for each can. The silica gels comes in a metal container the size of a deck of cards and fits nicely into those ammo cans. This way the humidity won't kill your ammo. I'm glad I already stocked up before the prices increased.

Obama Plan

I don't know how much all of you are into what is going on but what about to happen is this. Obama knows touching the 2nd amendment is tough so he is going after the ammo. The plan is to serialize all new ammo and charge a 500% tax on it. This means the your shell casing will have a number and the bullet will have the same so they can track bullets and keep it so expensive you can shoot much or at all. After all, a gun is useless with out ammo. Oh you think you are ok stock up right? Wrong all non serialized ammo will have to be turned in and destroyed. If you get caught with it you will be charged with a felony thus taking your right away to own a firearm. Have to give it to him its smart but I have a feeling there will be a major uprising if it happens.
