LOL, soundgarden is about as primal as the Smurfs...

Yea - the younger guys probably find inner strength in poking fun at Soundgarden, but I first listened to Soundgarden in the 80's when they put out records like Screaming Life, and UltraMega OK on SubPop records. The also played with bands like the Melvins, and Tad among others. Soundgarden was a ridiculous loud, and heavy band early on, but yes things change. I also listened to bands like Napalm Death, BoltThrower, and Old Lady Driver that I would put up against any so called NuMetal, or "primal" band nowadays...and I still enjoyed that post zeppelin/sabbath rock of Soundgarden. It always has to be a pissing contest when we talk about metal.

Soundgarden has always been a solid band, I tend to stick to the heavier stuff these days but I loved their music growing up (had a brother 7 years older than me so I was exposed to the "grunge" stuff when I was pretty young)

Wasn't a big fan of audioslave so I'm glad they are back.

I'm a huge Soundgarden fan and must say that the new album sounds solid. Of course, it's not as good as their early stuff, but I'm glad to see they made another rock album.
