pre-contest quad/ham training question

How many weeks out from a contest does everyone drop squatting and heavy pressing? Quads and hams can be tricky...sometimes you need a few weeks for things to settle and for the cuts, vascularity to come fully out..other times you can train heavy all the way up until the show.

If you drop the squats etc. Do you perform lunges, leg extensions instead? I have tried several approaches in the past and am in interested in hearing various opinions. I have a show coming up on the 10th of November.

I do not think you should drop out any squatting or pressing movements; particularly if your strength levels are still up to par on a caloric diet that is below normal.

I learned to incorporate leg extenstions and Hammy curls @ 4 x25 each on opposing days from normal leg work, to bring in the seperation and deeper "cuts". Mainevent showed me that. My legs were a walking road map of vascularity. Now would be the time to do so.
 
I stop all leg movements ten days out from the contest, but other than that it's business as usual.
