Hey computer guys-

got a little problem. Have something saved on my desktop and I dont know what it is.

It lists a name and the ".php" at the end when I click on Properties.

I have used everything to open this file and nothing works. Then somehow the website Microsoft Application Search popped up and told me the files ending in .php can only be opened by Picture IT, or Notepad.

I tried my Picture It program and it said it can not open it.

I tried my Notepad and it opened it, but its just a large screen of jumbled letters, numbers, symbols that mean absolutely nothing.

I think it is a picture or something. Is there anything else I can try to open this stupid thing?

thanks for the help

PHP is pre-hypertext processing. It is made to be opened in a browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox for instance. Be aware however, if you do not know what it is, it could potentially be malicious software.

I'd be careful of that as Kaiser said. You can drag and drop it right into a browser window BUT if it's just something worthless, why bother? How did it get there in the first place? Was it an email attachment? or did you save a web page? I use PHP and mySQL to create my own databases so they can be web-based. It's easy so it's good for lazy people like me.

Proceed with caution. Chances are you just saved a web page to your desktop.

Yeah, its either a webpage or more than likely a picture of some kind. Although I usually save pictures in jpeg format so I dont know how it could be in the new format.

Reason behind me thinking its a pic, its on the desktop and the title is "my home" so I think I took a pic of something but cant remember.

I usually never save anything to the desktop unless its important.

thanks, I will try the browser idea, but I dont think it worked last time

Rename it to "MyHome.jpg" and see if it opens. If it doesn't try "MyHome.bmp".

no luck with the rename. It still comes up as a PHP file. Firefox can not open it and when I try Internet Explorer nothing happens.

Guess I will never know

right click on it and open with word if you can.
or if you have front page, try that.

Tried it, no good.

I only have Wordpad and Notepad and they both open up a big jumbled mess. I guess I could email it to somebody? U never know what you're gonna see though. Cant promise its not my horse d*ck u know what I am saying? LOL

ok, I can promise its NOT that, but I seriously dont know what it is
