runnin on off days

you think it overkill if i run on offdays? usually i run before or after i train but it really take a lot out of me and affects my workout. Any suggestions would be great
 
Depends entirely on your goals.
 
Personally, I think jogging is one of the worst activities you can put your body through. Many better ways of doing cardio. Thats just my opinion. Also, if your going for the lean bodybuilder look, then you should keep your cardio intensity low-med to medium....breathing through your nose. Good luck.
 
running

I think that running kills yours joints and affects your muscle structure as well. I like to ride a bike for 30 minutes and read a book now and keep my heart rate at 135-145. That way you do not burn muscle off and have the benfit of both cardio and muscle gain. Agree on the calories that will help with the belly fat.
 
I wouldnt go over 4.5 mph , and only do that in intervals. I would stick with doing it after your weight lifting sessions and on off days take that entire day off. Unless youre taking more than 2 days a week off from lifting, you need those rest days to recover from the beatings you give yourself in the gym.
 
i agree that running is too intense, so what i do is a brisk walk for 45 mins. and every 5 mins run for 1 min. slowly to get my heart rate up momentarily.
 
I think its great.burns fat,improves athletic performance etc...
Run after workouts or on non training days. run at a decent pace for shorter intervals.Or sprint a block then walk briskly a block repeatedly for around twenty minutes.
