Screensavers are they necessary?? If so how long do you have yours set to kick on?

from my understanding they are totally cosmetic nowadays, they were invented back in the day for monochrome monitors, because when the monitor was left on the pixels would be messed up some how because of the screen nat having any movement. people use screen savers simply because they are "cool" and look neat.

i could be wrong about the monochrome part, but i think i am right.

Screensavers do work. Pixels will burn if you leave them the same color for too long. There is an alternative to screensavers, which is simply set your power settings to put your monitor in standby after a certain period of time. This is pretty much the safest route as a screensaver itself is an executable file.
