Just found out about this. 1989 an astroid the size of an aircraft
carrier just missed earth by only six hours. If it was ahead six hours
on it's path we would of had impact. The impact would of been the
same as the atomic bomb going off every secound for fifty days. Luckly
it missed us by only 400,000 miles which aint shit considering everything
in space. And the scary part is, Nobody new about this until eight days
later.

I feel sometimes that the government might be worried about something like an astroid that is coming directly at us but they would not tell the public so it wont cause a world panic

Yep, imagine only six hours.

Was the astroid the size of a aircraft carrier before entering the earths
atmosphere? Or thats how big they thought it would be after it broke
apart when entering the atmosphere?

Accually it was much larger and Pretty sure that it was before, but with
it being that big and traveling 45000 miles per hour that was the estimated
impact they predicted. I would think anything that big and moving that fast
there wouldn't be enough time for it to burn down or break up.

that evolution, it sure is smart...

I was standing on the moon and saw it go by. Seriously, Got it from the
history channel in the news. One of my favorite programs.

Also found it here. Go down to NEA THREAT then third paragraph.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Near-Earth_asteroid

On March 23, 1989 the 300 meter (1,000-foot) diameter Apollo asteroid 4581 Asclepius (1989 FC) missed the Earth by 700,000 kilometers (400,000 miles) passing through the exact position where the Earth was only 6 hours before. If the asteroid had impacted it would have created the largest explosion in recorded history.

and scientists sitting back laughing saying ha ha ha we got em
again. Give me a f...ckin break. I've seen shit shooting across the
sky at night all the time, I guess thats BS too?

I take it this is the first time you've heard how close we were to being hit?

No there has been closer ones Since. Not sure the year 2004 one
came as close at 62000 miles, but if you bothered to read the info
earth 6 hours earlier was in the direct path of this one. It would of
been a direct hit. Are you here for the sake of arguing or just plan
ignorance.
I'd like to add, what made this different, it was a matter of timing
then a near miss. Capeesh?
