Hey everyone,

I think massage guns are a great tool for recovery, muscles relaxation etc etc

But lets assume you have a muscle tear or injury, is it still safe to use the gun around the areas of damage?

What i was thinking in my head, if you got a tear, your vibrating near the area and can make the tear worse and impair healing, am i overthinking things?

Or should i use the gun 10cm or so away from the injured area?

And anyone got ant good techniques, tips or machines that can speed up muscle tears?Im not just talking about peptides/gh etc, im talking other things like shockwave therapy, active release techniques, any kind of lasers, PRP injections, etc, any one got expereince?

How did you come up with 10cm lol Iv got the most expensive there gun. And this thing is a great tool but it will nowhere near replace actual massage.

I would not use any manual therapy on any region that has an active tear.
Maybe after its fully healed, but not while its fresh and definitely torn.

Ive tried a number of other therapy's for various minor tears and injuries.
CWI, Cryo, IR saunas, shockwave/ems therapy, ect ect.

My experience is that they all can "help" to some degree, some more than others, and some that dont seem to improve healing, but might improve the pain from the injury (CWI and cryo). All in all my experience that other than BPC/TB500, time is the biggest factor and all the fancy expensive therapies have never helped my recover noticeably faster.

BPC/TB on the other hand, my experience is it feels like injuries heal twice as fast.

Depends on the severity of the injury

Minor injuries tend to respond well to direct stimulus. Say your shoulder or knee is just hurting a bit. Using body weight and doing a million reps over and over right where it hurts is a pretty effective way to heal the area.

But more severe injuries you need to be more careful

One of the points of manual therapy is to increase blood flow and increase tissue temperatures> why would you not do this for injuries? Have you not been dry needled or had ART done to an injury before?

Not for an ACTIVELY torn muscle, then it is very likely that aggresive manual therapies like massage or ART will only potentially make the injury worse.

I have never had dry needling done because i have zero belief in its efficacy (not saying it doesnt do anything, only that i personally have not seen any piece of evidence to convince me that it does) and ART is irrelevant to the specific example of an active, recent muscle tear, but may be useful in the back end recovery.

Now if we arent talking about an actual tear, and are more talking about some minor tweak or tendinopathy or some historic/chronic issue then im all for aggresive manual therapies when applied correctly. I regularly get tissue work done for both recovery and injury preventative reasons.
