Six Simple Steps to Catapult Your Muscle Gains

What if I were to tell you that throughout the years there has been a growth of strength training techniques that have no scientific proof to back them up. Well there are hundreds of them, do yourself a favour, have a look at the facts presented in this outline of muscle gain principles and make up your own mind.

Below you will find the Scientific Guidelines for strength training that have always been around for a long time but not followed by many main stream training systems these days.

1. Limited Energy Level

A strength-training program should be short and simple as you only have a limited amount of energy per training session.

Scientific studies reveal that blood sugar levels (energy) start to deplete after 30 mins, so exercise selection and the time taken to perform them is crucial.

What you should be aiming for is stimulating as many muscle fibres in the shortest period of time available.

Your blood sugar levels deplete after high intensity training (usually between 20 - 30 minutes) and remember that you need energy to recuperate after the workout.

The trick is to give yourself a high intensity workout before your blood sugar level depletes, and then you will have given your body the exercise that it requires to gain the maximum amount of muscle possible.

2. Progressive Overload

Progressive Overload is the main exercise principle you need to be aware of in order to get the results that you're after with strength training.

The two most important points are:

• Complete your exercise with perfect technique
• Push to total failure when doing a set and overload the weight on the bar progressively. (Overload your targeted muscles to beyond what there used to)

Basically this means that when the body is stressed by high intensity training beyond its normal demands, the body will adapt to these new demands of improved strength.

When I say "normal demands," I mean what level of stress/strength your body is used to now.

An example: The set that you performed last week using the same technique and weight, your body will now have adapted to. If you stay at this level your muscles will not become stronger or bigger, so this is where the Progressive Overload plays a major part.

Once your muscles have adapted to a particular weight then it'll be time to overload them further (add more weight, speed, repetitions). You'll need to keep on repeating this process of overload if you want to become stronger.

Remember to always use ‘Good Technique’ Technique must never be sacrificed for extra load.

3. Training Frequency

The sad reality is that the popular high volume type of training that you find in bodybuilding books and magazines (and used by the stars) is irrelevant to the majority of the population and has a shocking failure rate.

What is good for Joe Star is probably not good for you. Everybody has different genetics; most of us have poor genetics and are not taking steroids like the stars.

The only way the majority of us can make any gains at all is to perform short intense workouts followed by long periods of rest so that we don't overtrain.

4. Over-Compensation

Many studies conducted around the world have shown clearly that recuperation from strength training requires far more rest time than previously thought.

Infrequent, short, high intensity weight training sessions, followed by the required amount of time to recover and become stronger is necessary for you to increase your functional muscle.

Here's what you need to do - allow your body enough recuperation time for over compensation to take place, so that the muscles can adjust to their new strength and growth.

5. Exercise selection for intensity

I can't stress enough of how exercise selection is absolutely crucial. There are only a few exercises that you really need to perform. These exercises consist of multi-joint movements.

These particular exercises are far superior to that of isolation exercises (working 1 muscle group at a time) because you are required to use more muscles from every muscle group.

By using these exercises your whole body will be worked hard.

6. Visualization

Over my 20 years in the industry, I've noticed that this area is by far the most neglected by mainstream health and fitness professionals...

Most books or courses concentrate on the physical side of muscle gain or fat loss and completely neglect the mental side of things.

By training your mental state as well as your physical body you can even further progress in muscle growth.
Now that you know these strength-training principles put them to the test straight away and stop wasting your time in the gym.

this might be good for absolute beginners only.....the only points that hold any weight are 2,5, and 6

Very weak article with nothing to back it up

From what I see those are all valid points for 90% of the people that train...
you two above are th eother 10% that don't need this info...who cares if its cut and paste?? if its valid it's worth posting...90% of trainees lookthe same after 5 years cause they listen to the wrong info...what in that post would not be good advice for someone who isnt gaining with the current system they are using???

Alwin Cosgrove advocates multi joint exercises and whole body workouts and M_W_F split... and he's no slouch..

So RC has had some issues in the past...let it be now and if ya don't like his posts don't read em..and dont comment.the best thing about this board is the lack of bullshit and flamming....keep what ya like and leave the rest ...you guys may be alot more advanced and growing like weeds and not need this info...but some do...

Is there anything in that post that is absolutte Bullshit???
Not that I see...so lets be grown ups and move on...

Crypt what you on? Your hormones are raging these days!
I just try to post ideas and things to start some other ideas on certain issues. The thing is that most just say its junk yet can never back it up or say why they think it junk and add to it.
I guess we will just stick to the same posts over and over and over that has been answered a million times on this board.
At least when Conan challanges something he has something constructive to add to the point.
No wonder beginners and novices think drugs are the answer that all thats written or asked about.
This may be called Pro Muscle but thier are a ton of novices and average trainees on this board who PM me all the time looking for training and diet help because they say they do not see much here.
I post this stuff for those who want to learn something new. If you disagree great but add something instead of saying it sucks.

RC

RC you better read that again..cause I just put my ass on the line for you...

and yes my hormones are raging!!! and I havent had any carbs in weeks..and I am a pissed off muther fucker!!!! and Im starving..and I dont like people who talk shit just to be with the crowd..
Your post was good....if you re read my post you'll see that I said that 90% of the people on this board can learnfrom that and the other 10% which maybee those two that flamed you may not need that info,,,

read it again before I bite yer head off ;)

nice post dude. the man has a disorder that he is taking medication for. as for his training articles i dont think he has ever tried to take credit for anything other than the uht program which is awesome (see my pic for the results) i enjoy his posts as they stimulate discussion on training and recuperation instead of the usual should i frontload with this drug or that drug. so in ending if you do not have anything good to say dont say it. you would think someone has been around here awhile would be more polite to fellow members only looking to advance this board. again real nice post, i will continue using training tips from razor, growing, getting bigger and post my pretty face in the members section so you can see my progress.:D

RC

OK, RC so I tok it wrong...Yeah i need a carb day today, been using the waxy maize to carb up, but maybee some serious shit food would take the edge off... I gotta get down to 210 before I can eat again

Really? Is this from the same credible source as his "client's" pic and that of his "son"?

See comment above.....

How many times has RC made false claims, yet you still hug his neck? I'm sorry, but when you go to the lengths to try to put yourself into the category of a trainer/online trainer I feel you need to establish some sort of credibility- which obviously RC has failed to do with his "mis-representations".

As far as RC personally, I have nothing against him. But you have to admit given his track record, it is hard to lend credibility to what he posts.

Do I give the guy hell, yes I do. I kinda' feel he's earned it. BUT, I feel like he's the "class dork", you know- the guy it's ok for us to pick on, but you won't let outsiders pick on him.

I give the guy props for having the courage stick around, but as far as his training advice- he's proven you can't trust him in that regard.

Personal opinions..

need to be kept to yourself. Whether or not you like the man, the post he made is helpful for novice trainees. What may seem common sense to experienced lifters, could be new information to someone who comes across this thread. And the fact that you are criticizing him in this specific thread will only make that novice question whether or not the information is bogus.

The truth is, that article is fact, and it is helpful. RC posted it to be helpful. So with all due respect bros, if you feel the need to say something on the negative side, try and have it something to do with the post at hand, and offer some sort of helpful criticism. This post was about helping newer lifters, not about whether you like his personality or agree with what he has done in the past.

Nice post RC. I, for one, appreciate what you do here.

hmm terry the only bullshit i smell is coming from you. you wanna see a pic of one of his clients look up mine. so your the class "bully" that picks on what you call the class "dork", dude you are sooooo mature. another beautiful post terry, keep'm coming your showing your true colors.

The thing i dont understand is what is so outragous about my training advice? I could see if i was promising 30lbs in 6 wks or making some outragous claim but it is solid time proven methods.
You can see what it has done for Edge and several others on here. Others want to stay hush since i can not blame them not wanting to be related with me. My UHT program is as solid as any other out there.
Do i deserve some backlash of course. But do it by disproving what i say.
If you think my methods are wrong prove them wrong and help others in the long run from making mistakes.
Terry here is a challange use my UHT for 6wks balls to the wall and then come back and give your honest opinion. This will help me and others.

How might one go about finding pictures of you?

I've always wondered what you looked like in regular colors. :D

Edge, you have some decent pics; however I fail to believe that RC, or any of his posts, had a significant (if any) hand in any of what you've done.

As for the "bully" insult...how many times does a guy have to fuck everyone over before YOU think it's alright for him to catch a certain amount of shit?

All I can say is that if he leads you astray like he's tried to do on here, on more than one occasion, it will be your own fault.

What's with the name calling BTW, it seems as if you are the one showing some true colors....

RC:

Yes, I'd say you do. I was one who gave you a second chance when you fucked up the first time, but when you tried to pull the same shit-well I just don't have much for that kind of person.

As for the posts- which are usually cut and paste jobs...most of them are acurate and true; however, they are basic (and common) knowledge that most people on here already know- it's hardly the kind of stuff that you should be claiming as proof that you are a credible trainer/online trainer.

As for "your" UHT program- it is NOT yours, and it is NOT a new and cutting edge theory- just because you believe in it doesn't mean you should claim it's your theory. I'll give you credit, it does work, but you still shouldn't say it is yours.

You want to build more credibility with hardcore guys? Try more advanced posts, instead of rehashing basic beginner level stuff. And try to cut back on so many cut and pastes, except when you need to use it as referrence or proof of something. Come up with YOUR OWN ORIGINAL material to use as posts or articles, something that says you have the knowledge to be giving out training advice.

Look in the articles section at the post "My Experiences with Sustanon" by OTH. Now, I disagreed with some of what OTH said- as you can tell when you read the posts- but he took the time to study a subject, make his own observations and come here to tell us about it. Try to think more along that line and you will certainly be more inline with your goals of being a credible online trainer.

Good luck.
