Shoes are important in the gym...some guys don't wear them, but I do. I've had some good companions that I've kept much longer than I should have, because they were good on leg days.

Anyway.....I need shoes, they have to be competant in the gym, what do you suggest I buy?

I just retired about 15 mins ago a pair of addias, I don't know what they're called, but they have that weird plastic support system on the bottom...

I trained for, and ran the Chicago marathon in them last October. I would have kept sporting them, but the toe part was wearing a hole. Lot's of miles on those sneaks... I also used them to train in for the last 6 months...

runners

I read that runner retire a shoe after about 6-700 miles.
Wonder whats that is in terms of weights?
I've used my lift shoes for 30 years...
30 YEARS!
Saucony with a custom strap...got em when I was 17.

Cardio shoes are a different deal.

I just bought some K-Swiss tennis shoes, they have a strong arch and lateral medial support with a higher heal to take some strain off calves. this is what my podiatrist has told me to get cos I tend to pronate, which is quite common especially when squatting heavy.

quite a hard sole too.

for running i ove my saucony. for my workouts i like my nike shox

thirty years, what are you lifting in a pair of chuck taylors! ha ha ha

I just wear my black Chuck's (Converse) or my black Samba's (Addidas...in-door soccer shoes).

BMJ

I love my New Balance WR993's...great everyday shoe....soooooo comfortable. I usually wear these or a pair of Pumas to the gym...and take them off when doing legs and calves.

ive been doing otomix for many years now, white/grey high tops. nice and light, yet enough support for calf work

Just retired my Nike Max Air after about 6 yrs for a pair of Nike Shox, also wear Otomix Power Trainers.

Nike Wildedge ACG

I use these for light hiking when I'm not wearing my Hiking boots.

These things are very comfy and feel like a spring when running. Plus I like the fact that they come in all colors:

Here's the ebay link to all of them: http://shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=ni...Men_s_Shoes&_odkw=nike+hiking+shoes&_osacat=0

I just got a pair of Nike "Free" today for strongman training. They are the lightest and most comfortable shoe I've ever put on. They'll be great for training calves especially. Check them out.

after 30+ training years of shoes i will never buy anything again other than new balance

I wear whatever is comfortable. I have many brands that I wear. My friend swears that you should wear wrestling shoes when you squat. I have not tried it yet though.

I wear.....

A pair of Steel Toe Dickies untied like Dexter and Jay the Big Boys don't wear Nike's or New Balance......

definitely nike shox. lightweight and very durable

These are HORRIBLE for squats. The increase lift in the back pushes you forwards in an awkward position and puts unnecessary weight on your knees and lower back. I switched to wrestling shoes and they have been great.

i like the Nike cross trainers....

The quarter cuts give me the ankle support and the insole is great for balance. They may not be good for anything else, but they are definitely good for squats and deadlifts.
