squat depth...

Well..

It looks like he hits parallel, plus his legs are huge.. Whatever works, right? ;)
 
For quads only you don´t have to go deep. Above 90 degree is plenty.
If you go deeper, the hams are more involved.
 
I believe he's only 16 or 17 in that video.

You won't find many guys that age squatting that kind of weight much lower than that, especially at his bodyweight.

There's no one right way

Over the past two years I've went through the process of doing squats at the ROM Lee was doing in the first video, for my heaviest weight. But while working up my weight on each set I would go to parrellel.
Personally I've had good results doing it this way. I don't see anything wrong with doing partial reps, 1/2 to 3/4, for quad development. As long as your always trying to improve.

Totally agree. He is still young. Not perfected technique yet.

I believe taller guys should not squat as low. The physics makes it incredibly hard on the kness.

It also depends what your doing them for. I personally go to the floor. But not super heavy! This really works my quads and I don't do leg curls.
 
i squat only to parallel if i go lower my ass grows out of proportion with my body...also i feel the pressure on my knees much more when i go deep...alex
 
I used to squat real deep; and I blew out my knees.
Now I squat to just above parallel (when the knees just start to hurt) and go back up.
My quads are 90% of what they were with less damage. I can live with that compromise.

i second that. if i go too low my butt grows way too fast.

but i would say try going deep long enough to REALLY find out what works for you.
 
now when we say parallel. is that when the hammies come parallel, or the top of the quad. bc ive been goin top of quad for parallel never really though of it anyother way.
