Surgery next week for detached tricep tendon. Any advice?

I’m going in for surgery early next week to repair a detached tricep tendon on my right arm. I’m 42yrs old. Been lifting hard for 22yrs. This is my first major injury that will involve surgery. Oddly enough, this didn’t even occur in the gym. Did it at home training horses.

It was a complete detachment with the little bone chunk that ripped off also.

Doc says I can’t use my arm at all for 6wks. He says 2.5-3 months to return to lifting.

Any of you had this same surgery? What were you able to get done in the gym during your recovery time? Did you work your opposite side at all? Any lifts that you were able to do with light weight that didn’t put any strain on the tri? How many days a week did you do legs?

I’m going to drop certain AAS, but continue with my usual GH.

Just looking for thoughts/advice from some others that have had this same injury/surgery.

Never had that one but I'd say in general..

Get a good pt that works with athletes, that's most important, not some peptide.

Listen to everything he says, take it slow, don't reinjure. I'd guess cardio quality food sleep all that is obvious will help you heal, maybe GH

I'd think you'd be out longer surgery has come a long way...keep the rep range high for a while obviously number 1 priority is not to reinjure.

Me personally would stay clear of working out until I was fully healed. Last thing you want is to aggravate the injury and delay your natural healing process.

I’d stay on your GH, test too if your doing any TRT. I’d also look into adding TB500 & BPC157.

Iv had a multitude of joint reconstructions. Done them with and without hgh and test. I definitely had faster better recovery without hgh or test. The body heals best on its own. I’m telling you this from my experiences. I wouldn’t quit hrt but high doses of test are not conducive to the healing process.

Stay out of the gym.. all it takes is a trip.. or hard muscle contraction of that arm and your hosed. Take a break.. wait your 6 or 8 weeks. Then ease back into it.. eat well.. supplement well.. no higher than hrt test and gh.. and let your body heal..

wound healing and aas.
good luck!

I had this surgery 9 years ago (I was in my mid 40's at the time). Total tear. Used a sports doctor (NBA team doctor). Took me a good 6 months to regain full strength.
I was back in the gym 2 days after surgery (developed leg routines that I used every week. 3 times a week for quads, hams and calves. You can also hit traps on the standing calf machine while in your sling.
After you get clearance to start training upper body again, doc had me start benching with a broomstick...yes a broomstick. That's how light you'll need to start.
Slow and steady wins the race.
Keep a tight diet and HGH. Good luck.

does the repaired tricep look normal? how does it look compared to the other one? is the strength equal/even on both?

Yes, it looks the same. Strength is equal . Only thing left is a small scar where they cut me and pulled the tricep down in order to re-attach it. You'll be fine. It was frustrating more than anything.
