The Bigger I Get The Harder It Is To Get A Good Night's Sleep

I can't remember the last time i went to bed and slept soundly throughout the entire night.. Well maybe a year ago when i got my wisdom teeth pulled and was loaded up on pain killers..

As i have gotten bigger/older i have developed more and more frequent issues when sleeping..

Circulation seems to be a big issue.. I cannot sleep on my back so i sleep on my side.. I get pins and needles in my shoulders whenever i am lifting heavy.. So i wake up with a dead arm.. Revive it and flip over and sleep on my other side.. Until that side falls asleep.. I try to sleep on my stomach, but the position of my arms make my shoulders hurt after awhile..

Recently i have been having issues with my outer quads.. After a heavy leg day, when i retire for bed, I have been getting creepy crawly/ tickle sensations deep in the muscle tissue in my outer quads.. The sensation gets so heightened, that i have to wake up and start walking around and flexing my legs to get rid of the annoyance..

Those are the top two reasons.. But i tend to get up to pee or wake up cause my stomach is growling and im hungry..

As i get bigger, my symtoms tend to get worse.. Now that im in the mid 240's and im sure i will get to the 250's.. I wonder what is in store for me? My doctors advice was to stop lifting so heavy and he gave me mild muscle relaxers.. But im obviously not going to stop lifting heavy and the muscle relaxers aren't doing shit..

Im just curious if other guys out there have the same issues... Especially since there are alot bigger guys than me.. I can say that my body isn't supposed to be in the 240 - 250 range.. I got my Mom's genetics and i don't have a big frame.. I remember reading, I believe in Cycles for Pennies, that your body's frame will adjust to your heavier weight over time.. But how much can it really adjust???

Are there any therapudic technique's that can help my circulation?? Like deep tissue massage..

wish i could help you out here bro. the bigger i get the easier it is for me to sleep. in fact i can hardly even get out of bed every morning. its like my body wants at least 12 hours of sleep a night.

have you tried sleeping on your back since you got bigger? I never could until i started putting on weight, and then it became easy...

get tested

if i were you i'd get tested for obstuctive sleep apnea....very common in heavier bbr's

I'm between 250-270 off-season, depending on if I'm training or not. I can sleep through ANYTHING... but I also get the pins and needles. It's more the way I sleep. I always sleep on my stomach... have since I was a kid. There aren't enough hours in the day for me to lay in bed. The harder I train, the more sleep I need.

I can get by with 6-8... but if I won the lottery and had nowhere to go, I'd shoot for a good 10-12.

It's probably due to the fact that I'm young.

I would say CPAP, but you havent said anything about snoring, just pains so I dont know bro

your overtraining. the cns is fried. when you get in a good growth spurt or training is going good notice how well you sleep. trust me sleep is the key. i went years with literally none (deep rem/stage 4), i have been to the edge of loosing my sanity and back.

It could definately be overtraining like edge stated. However it could also be the amount of AAS your using. I have found that in the past, the more AAS i would use the more trouble i would have sleeping. Oh and I'm not just talking about tren which definately hinders sleep. I'm 5'7, 220 at 15% bf and I sleep just fine now thanks to hgh. :D In the past, when I had trouble sleeping, i would take melatonin which is a OTC sleep hormone. It worked great for me at 3mgs per serving. It might work for you.

Anymore info on the sleep apnea would be appreciated. As I have gotten into the 250's I get very interupted sleep when i sleep on my back, snore alot more and never reaaly seem rested. My father, who is a pretty big guy himself, uses this breathing machine for his. Are their an other decent alternatives? Not trying to hijack the thread, but I know that this affects so many of us bigger guys that it could very well help out the OP as well.

I'm at work and don't have time to look for you but just google dental appliances for sleep apnea. That should help.

You should go and get tested at a hospital to see if you even have sleep apnea. I had tests done on me before. Basically they put wires and what not on your body and have you sleep on a bed until early morning. You could just have insomnia.

my buddy was tested for sleep apnea, it costs over $3000 for one nights observation. Be sure to see if your insurance covers the cost first! He was annoyed they told him he didnt have it bad, but he cant sleep any way but on his belly, and with all the wires he couldnt even turn over. Oh and the diagnosis was to stitch a pocket on the back of his tee shirt, and sleep with a tennis ball in it so he cant roll over on his back. Basically where he says he doesnt sleep anyhow but was the only way he could that night with all the wires stuck to him lol.

just a fyi on his experience

Damn getting tested sounds like it blows! ...i have some trouble too..hopefully I can get a temper pedic bed when I get some money and see if it helps

Insulin that shit will put you to sleep fast! :D

But Seriously...
I take Unisom, it helps get me to sleep pretty easily and I stay in bed until morning. Walsom (the walgreens brand) is A lot cheaper and just as effective.

Pillows. I had pain in my shoulders and my thighs until i added an extra pillow for my head and a small pillow between my knees.

I never snore.. Im sure my girl would tell me so since she is a light sleeper.. I have tried melatonin and it actually makes me wired.. I was having alot of sleep issues about 4 weeks into DC training.. I stopped blasting at 6 weeks and have almost been cruising for 2 weeks.. My leg sensations have gone away.. Occasionally i get pins and needles.. I'll see how things go my next blast..

to the OP I sometimes get aches and tingling type feelings from GH before my body gets used to it. This has given me problems sleeping at times. A thicker pillow helps me when I sleep on my side so that my bottom shoulder doesn't get jacked up overnight.

I only get 4 to 5 hours of sleep...

now days I only get 4 to 5 hours of sleep thanks to 3rd shift! Seems like I take ZMA like a multi-vitamin, 3 every morning before I go to sleep. The only thing I've notice since I've gotten bigger was I tend to stink up the bedroom while sleeping, my wife says it's me, that I fart while sleeping. :D

sleep apnea is a possibility, Bigguns Email me what you're doing those last few hours before bed I can provide a solution, give me a try I bet I can fix this ;) I have first hand experience with it.

i am far from an expert on this subject but i have been suffering from severe sleep issues since i was in middle/high school and i am 26 now...i dont know what your diet looks like, but last summer i did a dave palumbo style keto diet, and i found my energy levels throughout the day were much more stable, and i was more tired at night than i normally was (usually i have to make myself sleep at night, i am never exhausted due to frequent naps, etc throughout the day), and i could fall asleep without lunesta, etc, and at the same time i needed less sleep bc i got undisturbed sleep for the most part...

on keto, id get 6-7 hrs and maybe only wake up once to piss and wouldnt have to struggle to get out of bed...as opposed to now, where i can lay in bed for 9-10 hrs but i wake up so many goddamn times and probably never even get into REM deep sleep, so i FEEL like i got 3-4, and thus require a nap midday

have u tried melatonin, lunesta, any of those?
