Change gyms and go and train somewhere where there are hardcore people. You should find that sufficient motivation.

It's real tough bro. I am very much like you as I need to focus and realy get into a zone. I have had training partners who were of the same mind and motivated the hell out of me but on the other side of the coin I've had the opposite as well. Being a guy that likes to f around alot out of the gym sometime guys get the impression that that's the way I act in the gym. I'm all bisiness in there, so I know where you are coming from. Posting a note on the bullitin board may work but to me that's like putting an add in the personals for a girlfriend. I have found that the best way to find a partner in your gym is to see a guy who is there generally around the time you are and ask to work in on a few sets with him. If he says no. . .then f him your better off not working out with him. But I have found that when you opick a guy about your size that is working out alone or even with another guy that 99% of the time they don't mind especially if you have the fire for training. It pumps him up to. I really is more beneficial to work out with someone simply for the motivation, spots, exchange of knowlege, different heories, ect. but if you have a jack-ass for a partner your work outs will suffer. And juicers have that 6th sence for knowing other juicers so when you see a guy you know hits the sauce wask to work in with him. Peace. Freez.

I think the partner issue all depends on your personality..I have worked out with others and on my own.
If are at the point in your life that you need someone to motivate you, because you can not do it yourself...they are great. Otherwise, I think spotting another while you could be supersetting is a damn shame....Bodybuilding is an individual sport...Period.

i prefer the "alone zone" also, but if you want a partner, just look for a 300 lb. mutha with about 6 teeth, no hair, acne on his back, and a scowl on his mug. he's your boy.

I've trained alone for about 10 years of the last 14.
You can concentrate better and don't have to explain when you decide to change things up midworkout. You are never left waiting if your partner is late, you never have to listen to his problems, and you never have to put up with toxic body odours!!!!
But when you get the right guy, it's awesome!
I did train with a "Maniac" for about 7 weeks, and that was excellent.

I train alone and pretty much always have, but I belonged to a gym in SoCal that was hardcore and balls to the wall. Everybody looked out for everybody. If you couldn't do that last set, tell someone to help you and it was on! To bad I had to move away. Sad days. Well now I train in my garage with my full gym, by myself, my own music and just think about those days

I happen to like training partners. I train with 3 other guys. I never worry about not having a spotter or somebody there for "motivation". They help to critique and modify my form so I can effectively and safely lift more weight. I cold lift without them, but I wouldn't be able to do as much and my gains would be a lot less.

Personally, I feel that a training partner CAN BE a great advantage and a great disadvantage. It depends on you, your goals, and your intensity compared to theirs. IT IS A MUST that they have the same goals as you and are in the gym to twist some fukin iron and that's it! If you aren't a talker, DON'T TRAIN WITH ONE! I have trained both ways... I've had good partners and lots of bad ones. Usually, they just aren't at the same level as I am, for dedication, and they end up not working out. I'm training alone right now, but I really miss those extra forced reps and the "competition" that you feel trying to outdo on another. Just take your time and find someone who trains the way you do and has the same goals... and you will like it....that's my $.02!
Peace.
