Morning every one
I have this question bugging me for a while now ... right now i got few min so might as well ask pro's about whts right or wrong ...
I think a week ago i read this article on MSN about how celebrity get bulked up in short time ... and most of the shit they posted in thr doesnt make sense to me ... so plz excuse me if I m been dumber then usual
Now one most imp thing tht i learned from the site is dont train alot but instead train smart and hard .. now if u go in depth I read here our training session should consists of not more the 45 min to an hour ... 4 to max of 5 days a week
On tht article pretty much every celeb they mention was training for min 3 hours a day and 6 days a week ... while celeb like Chirstain bail was on a diet tht consist of very high amount of cals ... which he was getting from fried food and Icecream they didnt mention the ratio or the amount but tht just get me thinking .. like I been taught if u want to bulk eat alot but eat right ... n these guys r saying something totally opposite from wht we discuss here everyday .
Again sorry if its a stupid question but that how I will learn
Thanks

Eating like that will add mass quickly. But not in a healthy way. id assume the 3 hr sessions are to keep bodyfat at bay with that kind of diet. Probably 45 min of weight training and 2 hours of cardio. its a horrible way to diet and train. Loads of clean cals, high protien, healthy fats, short intense workouts are the way to go.

dont go by tv..stars use juice too but tv looks down on it soo much they give the whole oh "he was on this new style diet" "u too can get ripped and eat what you want".than they list the trainer he used and he sells a bunch of dvds an books... i go to the gym every other day no more than 4times a week.. growing is about rest the gym is just there to tare the muscle to be repaired so rest is more important than the gym... but thw time i spend at the gym os intense with short rests.. and what i work is worked till failure.. i used to over train i still got gains but my joints hurt and i would get sick everynow and again..i get better gains with less work now. its all about diet and rest

Context is important.

I'm guessing that the article on Christian Bale you read was his transformation from The Machinist to Batman?

He purposefully starved himself down, look at him in American Psycho and he had a good lean build and went down to something sickly for Machinist. Then had to rapidly get up in size for Batman. Lot's of muscle memory+some additional size and body fat. That's likely not the situation you are in so don't try to mimic others situations or you'll end up with a big FAT failure.

You have to realize that what they are writing about is not real life. These actors don't consistently stay on those diet and training routines. They only do that for a relatively short period of time to get ready for a role. Then they resume their "real" life. Don't follow what the Hollyweird actors do, you'll just set yourself up for failure.

Oh not in any way I m trying to mimic any of these guys .. I use Chirtain Bail as a Example they got whole list of Celeb thr lke tht guy from Prince of persia ... I mean if u watch his movie Day after tomorrow he looks like a kid but for prince of persia they trained him for like 3 to 4 hour with a XMarine .. then my favourite Gerald Butler in 300 that got pretty much every single teen in the gym doing or trying to do crunches I kid u not after that movie I actually had to wait for my turn to do abs on machines . Any way same story a series of High Intense Training that use to last 3 to 4 hours now I dont know how accurate this info is but I m just sharing here wht I read ...

NICELY SAID :) Thanks

Another one in same lines ...
How much water should we drink whn we are at gym ? like some time I see ppl chugging down 1L of water bottle ... like is this right for a guy whose goal is to get lean and bring BF% down to 9 or lower ? .
And whts the deal with these sports drink ?... like gatorade n stuff is it wise to drink them instead of water during training or cardio cos they have cals in them so drinking them while training is defeating the purpose doesnt it ... ??

^^^^ Drink water as you feel you need it. I try to drink water throughout the day and I would assume I get close to a gallon if not more on some days. Some days I know I won't get near that bc I'm not thirsty at all. Just listen to your body. My theory is though make sure you are hydrated prior to lifting otherwise your workouts will suffer.

As far as gatorade and all that jazz...I'd never drink it. No need for those dirty cals and especially if you're trying to diet down. In the offseason I may have a scoop of gatorade powder with my intra-workout drink but certainly not during cardio and not ever when dieting.

You want to keep your water intake at or near 1gal a day. In training environments you don't necessarily want to pound the water. Sipping is the key, your body like most things can't handle an overload at one given time.

Remember your body works in a delayed fashion. Drinking water one day, although helping in the immediate also effects the following days after that. So, just because you aren't thirsty consistency is key.

As far as sports drinks go, Gatorade especially is over saturated with crap. Everything that I've learned as it pertains to Gatorade is to dilute it by 50% with water. It may not taste as appealing, but since when has anything in Weightlifting been delicious. I know with most of us, if it tastes good it normally raises a flag going hmmm... something must be wrong lol.

As with anything moderation is key especially in the world of sports drinks. They servce their purpose but they are way overboard in their makeup.

Hope this helps out a bit.

Thats how exactly how I do only take a sip of a water after every exercise I finish ... just enough to get my tongue wet , it seem odd to me that some guys just chug down almost whole bottle at a time ...
Thanks every one for all your answers ... Really helped alot to clear things up

Technically you can overtrain for short periods of time.....then it will catch up to you and the negative side of overtraining will kick in. Overtrain is no secret. Lots of guys do it pre-contest, but again it is only for a short preiod.....like 10-12 weeks (3 months sound familiar)? After that you will reach a point of diminishing returns. Knowing when to turn it back down is the trick.

yes your right and this confuses me as my current trainer have me on this training program which is divided into 3 periods and this 1st one is call endurance ...
all I know about this tht i have to do shit load of workout compare what I use to and have to focus on lifting lesser weight .. "ring any bell "
here r some example

I m working 4 days a week
DAY1
Chest day
6 set x straight Dumble press 12 Reps
4 set x incline dumble press 12 reps
4 sets x Decline Dumble press 12 reps
4 sets x Super Incline press do it till failure

20 min of HIT Cardio

Day 2
8 sets x SQUAT
4 with 90lbs 20 reps
2 with 135 lbs 12 reps
2 with 190 lbs 8 reps

6 sets x Leg curls
4 x 90 lbs 15 reps
2 x 110 lbs 8 reps

8 sets of leg extension
4 with 120 lbs 15 reps
4 with 210 lbs till failure

shoulder , Bies and Tris all in one day each of them involving 4 exersice each with 6 to 4 sets and 3 times a week through in the abs and three times a week through in claves

to me its exsuating and I really feel shit whn I cant seem to hit all this at a time cos for me its just too much training ...

does your trainer have any back excercizes?

so you're doing 22 sets for legs??? and 18 sets for chest???:eek:

Ehehehe thas wht I thought too ... He says its "ENDURANCE PHASE" well for back its

4 sets of pull ups 12 reps each
4 sets of pull down 12 reps
4 sets of seated pull 8 reps
4 sets of T bar

Dont get me wrong but the only reason was to lower my BF enough to get my abs visible ... tht was the only reason I hired the guy and I cant seem to get any sort of Abs workout routine from him
I m 5' 11"
150 Lbs
my genetics I have small bone structure and even I eat measured and clean food I cant seem to put on muscle as fast as other ppl do ..

You shoulda hired one of the guys here. Their transformation posts say it all.

You are going to have to figure out what works best for you not what works for someone else. If you are trying to bulk I would recommend hitting every body part twice a week.

wait a minute, you are 5'11 and weigh only 150lbs and you are trying to lower you bf to get your abs visible?

I'm very new at this, but I read Big A's "Growth Principles for Beginner's" upon joining this board and have applied that for only a month and have gotten results already. I can only venture a guess, but I imagine the it's the simplicity of it.

Also these other guys are right about stars, TV, and media. You can't believe what they tell you they are doing. While you are at it, take a shotgun to your TV. Your life will improve immeasurably.
