I was given this script today @50mg's once a day. :( Has anyone ever taken it and what was your experience on it? And for how long were you on it? Or if it was a family member do you remember their experience on it? Thanks a million PM family!

hmmmm

i watched a friend come out of some bad depression on it.. worked well for him ... he was allways anxious and stuff.. took it for a bit, turned to a nicer person! also. i do remember him complaining about having an orgasm? i dont remember that well, just remember him mentioning he had difficulty... maybe it was just him...

a friend of mine took it. it worked well for her WHEN she took it. i member one night i was a lil drunky and my stupid ass decided to pop a couple, GOD i felt like shit in the morning

Thanks fellas,, anyone else?

One of the most heavily prescribed SSRI's today... and 50mg is a very moderate dose... you could most likely take that for the rest of your life with little or no problems. I believe the tabs range from 25-200mg tabs.

Very, very common. You have a lot of company.

Hey buddy,

I was on Zoloft for about 9 months after I suddenly developed panic attacks after some stressful life situations. In any case, I was prescribed 50mg ed at first but that actually made me visualize and have mood swings. Later my dosage was increased to 75mg and I was fine. Good luck!

Thanks fellas, I really appreciate it.

Hey Bro, the only thing I can add is PLEASE see a psyciatrist and dont just take the word of a family practitioner. I was on the WRONG med for years and in a terrible state untill I saw someone who was really qualified to prescribe anti D's.

I took it for about 6 mos myself about a year and a half ago... worked great for me. i ended up weening myself off of it by choice. good luck with it. It really helped me to deal with mood swings and depression. if u anything PM me... =)

Hey Boom! Shit man. Didn't know you were having troubles in this department... I need to come up to Philly and hang out a bit.
I've taken it before. Like 10 years ago. It worked well, but my body became used to it or something. I ended up maxing out the dose before switching me to Prozac. Shit. Now I gotta hit you up with a PM. hahaha
Good to see you around the boards boom. Nice avatar....as always....
But no match for buffbabeca's ! hehehe

Littlemack, buffbabe beats my avi by far! :D Anytime your thinking of coming by philly just say the word bro!

Dogma, my Doc told me t otry it for a month, if nothing happens then he WOULD make me go see the Shrink, he is not opposed to it. He just wants me to try it and see first.

Boom, you should be fine. Zoloft, 'zac, whatever. Pretty much the same molecularly. It's like masteron and proviron... very similiar and both have good points...

yOu be a'ight!

OTH, I guess what I am a little scared of is will it change me? Will I have like a out of body experience? Will I still be my normal self? Things like that!. I also have a professional career and wonder how it will make me act while at work. Can you follow me a little???

I was on it for a year or so. I didn't like it and eventually stopped taking it. It didn't help my depression at all... it did "even out" my emotions somewhat but I didn't like that feeling because it was like not feeling anything at all. And I had no energy or motivation to do anything. Did you ever see the episode of South Park where all the kids went on Ritalin and turned into super-calm, Phil Collins loving zombies? It was like that for me. I had people I know tell me I wasn't as "apocalyptic" when I was on it, but I don't think it was worth it.

If you stop there are withdrawals. I didn't sleep a full night for about a week when I stopped taking it, and I was only taking 25mg/day.

Are you kidding? It's the first question everyone asks me! No it won't change you. All it's doing is allow the chemicals in your brain that make you feel good to linger there a little longer... that's all. And they are very specific selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. You'll be alright. You might feel anxious the first few days or maybe yawn a bit more, that's usually about it. Though, as your doctor should have told you, if you experience serious sides, call him immediately. But they're very rare. Especially at that dosage. Also, some guys say they can raise the sail but have trouble getting the boat into the dock at first. Also usually passes in time.

Cool, thanks a million OTH!

Blitz, in your case you may not have been suffering from clinical depression at all but were simply depressed for legitimate reasons - unhappy with your life sort of thing. People want to take a pill as soon as they feel down in this day and age. Doctors are all to eager to prescribe them too. Sometimes it's necessary to mourn and grieve and be sad and all those things because of the events or an event in your life. In some of those cases, drugs may actually prolong the recovery period.

And you shouldn’t stop any drug without consulting your doctor first. If you stay on anything for a year, you're going to experience something when you stop. Whether it be a medication or potatoes. With Zoloft you start slowly and come off slowly.

Let's try to give Boom some encouragement. If he begins to doubt the efficacy of his meds, he may stop taking them. He went to the doctor because he was suffering. He didn't get there because he took a wrong turn. Psychotropic meds are like anything else. Sometimes it takes a few trys to find the one or combo that works best.

Wish him the best.

I completely agree with everything you said OTH... I wasn't trying to discourage in any way. Just answering the original question "Has anyone ever taken it and what was your experience on it? And for how long were you on it?". And it's exactly as you stated as to why it didn't help my depression. I should have clarified this in my original post. That's kind of what I was trying to get across without directly asking "why are you taking it?" Because if the depression is not caused by chemical imbalance drugs may not help. And like you said, doctors are all to eager to prescribe them. I went in, said I was depressed, told him why, and walked out with a prescription that did not help me. I don't want the same to happen to BOOM.

And I mentioned the withdrawal because no one, not even my doctor, told me about it. So when I stopped taking it I seriously thought I was pretty freaked out because I didn't know what was going on. I think it's pretty important for someone to know, and wish I would have had that info to begin with.

But like I said, it did help even out my moods, I think buffbabe mentioned it as well.

It's cool! No worries. I'm glad you posted your experience. Your experience is all too common today and I'm sorry you had to go through that shit. Your doctor should have talked more in depth with you before just whipping out the pen. It's sad man. I see it sooo much. How are you now? I hope much better! It wasn't anything you said or did. I'd like to say "What's up???" to your doctor actually. Again, hope all is going better for you now. It wasn't my intention to attack anything you said. You SHOULD be miffed!
