Some of you may know my story:

http://www.professionalmuscle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42063

I went and had a follow up with my urologist today. He said my test levels are normal (even the first test I had which was REALLY low). I told him that my levels were not normal for a 28-about to turn 29 year old. He said "OK, I'll agree to treat you if you go to counseling because I believe your low test levels are from depression". He than said he would give 100 mg injections...EVERY 4 WEEKS! I explained to him that 100 mg every 4 weeks is a joke and that I should be getting injections once a week to keep it leveled. He disagreed with me. And than I asked if he ever heard of Dr. John Crisler and he said "No, who is that?". Unbelievable.

I initially said OK to his proposition but after talking to a good friend of mine who posts here I have decided to schedule an appointment with a doctor I found on The Life Extension website ( www.lef.org ). His name is Dr. Steven J. Bock. Unfortunately this will drain my bank account because I'll have to pay out of pocket because he doesn't accept health insurance and my health insurance (Empire Blue Cross) only gives limited out of network benefits. Here is his website:

Can someone please explain to me why the medical community is so stupid and uneducated when it comes to this subject? I found it scary that I knew more about this subject than a doctor who's been a urologist for over 20 years. Am I alone in thinking this? Has anyone else had to jump through all these hoops to get TRT? I have researched Dr. Crislers information EXTENSIVELY and have learned so much from him.

SWALE (Dr. Crisler) if you're reading this can you please tell me if Dr. Steven J. Bock is a good qualified doctor who will be able to help me? And if it's not too much trouble can you please look at my two blood test results?

Thanks for all your support fellas. This is torture what I'm going through.

you are dealing with two problems here, the first being that doctors are shit scared of prescribing anyhting that remotely has steriods attached to it for fear of in crimination. Second and yes you are correct, many of them have no clue as to what will really work well. But 100mg e4/wks is ridciulous. at least e2/wks and I would have said ok that is within the realm of trt. But given the half life of cyp e4 weeks is absurd.

100 mgs a week is almost absurd.

take a 100 mg shot of test and then get a blood test 6-7 days later.

I bet your T levels will be near zero

Yes but this quack has him at 100mg e/4 weeks!!!!

Even though this new doc I'm going to see doesn't accept health insurance, at least I know that the blood work and prescriptions will be covered by my insurance. Plus, I can submit my bill to my health insurance and they MAY pay 80% of the bill.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this personal hell I'm going through?

buy a medicine book, with the treatment for hypogonadism and show it to the doctor. Tell him you are not trying ot be a smart ass, but its your life and you are not a junkie. you really doing for the quality of life.

My urologist spoke with my cousin yesterday (my cousin is a urologist in residency). And he told my cousin he would prescribe me a testosterone gel that I could use every day and he would periodically check my blood. I also have an appointment scheduled with Dr. Steven Bock in late February.

My question to you guys is, should I go ahead and start using the gel even though I'm gonna be seeing the life extension doc in late February?

I have low test levels and have had them since my mid 20's (over a decade now). Yeah, it was hard to find a doc to want to prescribe testosterone injections. And this was BEFORE all the MLB and pro sports scandals in the last few years.

First they want to prescribe the stupid patches, then the gel, then..

Its a big pain in the ass!

If your doc doesnt want to do anymore or even listen to information you have gathered from credible research and news articles from the web, then find another Doctor! Its that simple. Sooner or later one will just say "ok, yeah you are right, yours may be in the average range but its LOW for you; taking into account your lessened quality of life. (You know, no libido, no morning wood, depression, losing muscle, gaining fat even with regular workouts, have hard time keeping your erection during intercourse- if u even think about sex anymore, etc) We'll put you on bi-weekly injections then go from there."

I told my first couple doctors I would NOT do the gel because its messy, smells, irritates my skin, and has poor absorption thru the skin. They put me on patches first (even after I told them they are just as much if not more JUNK than the dang gel). I knew it wouldnt work to get my test levels where I wanted but I figured I'd humor him and try it anyway.

After 3 weeks of using 4 patches per day - you're only suppose to use 1 per day - I told him "THIS IS ENOUGH! This sh*t aint working, I still have no sex drive and no interest in the opposite sex, I need the shots!" He finally gave me the prescription for shots.

He didnt want to let me give myself the injections at first but I told him I've been properly trained on injection techniques and have given friends of mine their HRT shots for the last few years. Once he heard that he was like "Ok, here you go" with a smile on his face.

I get prescriptions for 30ml x 200mg test at one time (90 day supply) with 2 refills available. Even though its suppose to be a 90 day supply, when its written like that on the script I pick up the 3 bottles all at once. Instead of 1 bottle every 10 weeks. Who's to say I dont take a few more than the recommended 1cc per week? lol

FYI- A new doctor I recently had a problem with didnt believe I needed 1 shot per week. He made this assumption by looking at my musculature and seeing if I had 2 testicles (no joke). He only gave me 1 shot every 2 weeks.

Well, seeing as how my test levels were 220-240 before the shots, then only increased to 250 after the bi-weekly shots (after 3 shots over 6 weeks), he finally pulled his head out of his ass and gave me the 1shot per week dose I wanted.

Personally, I still dont feel normal unless I am on at least 3-4 shots (6-800mg) of test per week.

Dont worry, you'll find somebody who'll help you out. Plus be able to bill it to your insurance. It is a medical condition.

**UPDATE**

My doc just called me and said he spoke to my primary doctor and they came to an agreement that if after months of pschiatric conseling if my test levels are low he MAY give me the gel. I told him I'm not interested and hung up.

I have an appointment in late February with Dr. Steven Bock (again, here is his website: **broken link removed** ). He does not accept health insurance and the first appointment is $750. The second appointment is $300 and the third is $200. My health insurance will pay for the blood work and the prescriptions. A bit pricey but I'm sure it will be worth it.

My question to you fellas who go to a wellness clinic is once I get situated and am on a regimen from the doctor, how often do I have to go in for follow ups? Because I gotta tell you I couldn't afford to pay $200 every 4 weeks for the rest of my life.

I want to thank all the people that have PM'd me with information about online wellness centers. Unfortunately, I live in NY and it's against the law to prescribe over the internet. I didn't even know that until one of the centers told me. And when I asked if they knew any good wellness centers in NY...they hung up on me.

Jesus Christ I can't catch a break.

Hopefully the doctor I see in late February will help me.

what does a urologist have to do with TRT? Isn't this the job of an Endo?

Fuck this Dr. I dont even know how he became a urologist. He should clearly know the halflife,etc.. I'd go to someone else, or maybe just stay on prop and each visit go off so your results keep staying low till he eventually gives you a normal dose, but i'd opt for a diff dr. Btw, it may be illegal in NY to prescribe but thats only illegal to the dr. prescribing it to you. Its never your fault. Im sure you can find an online site to prescribe for you.

Urologists and endos both can prescribe TRT. Depending on the quality of care of either of these types of doctors means everything.

Jake, why do you even bother with this bozo? Find another urologist or an endo. You don't have to go to a wellness clinic.
