Wouldn't this most likely require a military or law enforcement background though?
Security contracting overseas you can make $140-$150k a year with about 3 full months off a year and spending most of your time overseas working out and playing xbox. Way under 40 hours a week of work total. All this will vary depending on the contract you get on, who your client is, if you are doing static or mobile or training and your location and living conditions.

I guess we have to all come to a consesus on what is "alot of money"
To some people $100k a year is alot and to some thats nothing.
shooterjobs.com man, general postings but if your contracting please don't be risking your life for only 150K a year bud.
It was a fun ass time. Fresh out of the Marines at 23, there wasn't any other place I was going to make 6 figures. Most of us went back to that not only for the money, but we miss that shit. That's all done now. For young guys though, it's a great opportunity. Gets your foot in the door for other contracts. I understand your point about money not being worth your life, but it's hard to take the fight out of the warrior, especially if you can finally get paid well for what you enjoy.
Think your mis-reading my post buddy. I am a defense contractor, a few friends and I own a defense firm I still do contractual work as well with our firm though.
My point though bud was don't be contracting for only 150K a year. Any comppanies posting jobs for that range are nickel and diming you.
Granted pay scale slides dramatically from 6-8 figures a year depending on risk/skill level/contract etc. But for a USMC straight out doing 250-400K a year if you snag the right contract is very easy.
IE providing security on tankers going through the Gulf of Aiden right now. I think we are paying 1,200-1,500 a day. And thats obviously a very safe, very low risk job.
No offense man, but I can't believe that. I have buddies all over. Even SEAL buddies getting mobile security gigs with OGA (CIA) don't even break 800's. Mentor programs in a-stan were getting about 750ish a day and they did patrols with afghanis. The pay for the Project Manager for our contract was $700-750ish/day and that was a DoS contract doing personal protection at the embassy in Baghdad. I was with Triple Canopy under DoS. Mid 500's is the common sweet spot. 700+ you will need minim 6 year in a SOF community. Only time I have heard of anyone making over 1k a day was the first guys who came into iraq with BW when it was just a few SF guys and a few pilots.
What the client pays on a contract per employee is not the same as what the employee actually gets paid. Our company used to get 20k reimbursement for every person they sent through the WPPS program. We got a 2k check for completing that. I'm sure DoS was paying like 2k+ per day per employee, but the employee them self gets no where near that.
yall are making me want to join the military...
Lol, no kidding.
Chris, so are most of the higher paying jobs in the private sector pretty much limited to former SOF guys?
