Random bitch... i hate planet fitness.

This was good. I have to say one funny thing about PF. the one I use literally has 11 or 12 abdominal exercise stations. It is a ridiculous amount of space and money to put into something that most members don't use and would not see the result of using. I really don't understand it. Maybe it is a marketing thing to get people to sign up. and the jungle gym as I call it is another waste of space and money. If you look at where the members are and what they are doing that should tell you how to expand.

In my small town of Williamsport Pa, the PF has something like 6000 paying members and no more than 2000 use it more than once a week. I would love to see the average profits for PF owners. I have to believe they make money.

Williamsport was the first PF I joined and loved it....was staying down at the Best Western so it was close....and the girls there are smokin!!

Well I have not much to do this afternoon so i'll through my 2 cents worth in.

I like PF. All the facilities I have been to are new, clean and most are open 24 hours. Yes they can get crowded with lots of out of shape people and yes you will find some of the more outrageous "awkward gym moments" but you cannot beat the price, hours and cross country availability. And no they don't cater to power lifting.

For me the specifics of the gym are not what makes the difference. Diet makes the difference. How you work out and where you work out have much less to do with it for me. Maybe it is what keeps others motivated but after 35 years of going to the gym, convenience is way more important than can i do this exercise or that. I also travel a lot for work and recently I started driving a big rig. PF is often located in old grocery stores where the parking lot is large enough for me to get the rig into. I get my work out in, I get my shower, and often get a place to park for the night and sleep.

It may not be your favorite place to workout, but over the years I have seen a lot chain gyms come and go. And the pricing for most of them was ridiculous. I have paid for gym memberships only to have then close up shop a month after I paid for my 6 month membership. i have seen ridiculous sign up fees and closed on Sundays.

I understand why you can say you don't like PF but I don't think in 35 years I have seen the price of much come down, but PF has brought the price of gym membership down. I suspect it forces the rest of the industry to step up their game.

I typically have more than one gym membership just to change things up. I also belong to the YMCA and that cost a lot more but give me access to other Ys. Our only local privet gym is more expensive, has worse hours and less equipment and services. And many of the members have an attitude that they are the only serious lifters in town because they workout at that gym and that is the only gym you can get a real work out in.

I am sure if I lived in a bigger town my girlfriend and I would probably find a more serious Bodybuilding gym but every place has its good people and bad people and I don't think equipment makes that much difference. Being able to get on the equipment does and that is a problem at many places. It is getting worse around here but you cannot do much about that.

So maybe the questions that is more of interest is what makes for a good gym.

I like PF and don't mind admitting it....no 145 pounders banging and yelling and plenty of hotties to look at....plus at 19.99 a month it's pretty damn cheap.

And I'm always the biggest one there so that's cool too lol

The two of you should be sacrificed at the alter of Professional Muscle by Big A himself! :D Seriously, that sad excuse of a gym is the antithesis of what we're about here!! I understand living somewhere, where it's a lack of options, but other than that why would anyone want to train there?

Agree 100%. Ya, not the best selection no where near it but can't beat the 24/7. If I can't get to the gym during the day, I'll hit PF for a quick pump. For what they have in there, a decent workout can be done.
Tanning is another good thing in there. If you go late at night the workers really don't care about that lunk alarm bullshit.

As a main gym, fucking right it blows! As a backup/secondary it gets the job done

Plenty of fat fucks in there but ya, more than enough hotties to make up for it!

We have a place in town called Xist Fitness. Not quite as soft as PF, but I did nearly get kicked out the only time I've trained there(free pass on deadlift day). Xist is the perfect name for this place. Just exist don't excel.

So what brought you to my little town?

"And the girls were smoking hot" what were you smoking LOL. I have been here for a little over 2 years and I have come to the conclusion that this town has more fat women "that smoke" than many other towns. The PF has gotten very crowded but there are still mostly fat girls there. A couple of moderately attractive but out of shape girls.

I don't mind the lack of women because I spend most of my time watching my iron goddess. If I could figure out how to post a photo on this forum I would.

My iron goddess but this was not taken at the PF, we were at the Y but she looks just as good at the PF.

Id take my local Y over PF anyday of the week.

You need to get on the back row of ellipticals and take a look around lol I usually went early afternoon before my night shift

I was working up rt 15 a bit in Trout Run where they're drilling for natural gas, bouncing around the drill rigs....I like Williamsport, and stayed 6 weeks at a time, spring and fall. That was almost 2 years ago now, tho

Depends on your perspective…due to multiple overseas deployments in the past decade, working out of tents in the desert with minimal equipment, or relying on kettle bells and weighted ammo cans I stowed in my MRAP and HMMWV, I'd be completely ok with what PF provides.

Not my number 1 choice, but then again, their marketing strategy targets the average person in America and tries to motivate them to live a "healthier" lifestyle (I said healthier, not healthy). :) To be honest, as easy as it is to poke fun at someone out of shape, I really get motivated when I come across someone overweight running a triathlon or marathon…just knowing they are challenging themselves and working towards some kind of goal. I won't make fun of anyone in the trying to improve at a gym…it's a sanctuary, but they are fair game when in a restaurant.

*No, I'm not a PF member :headbang:

You get what you pay for.... thx T

Thank you big buddy! I know most of the iron crowd I associate with would be asked to leave as soon as they walked in the door. Here's one for planet fitness. https://youtu.be/WVhJDtClP1Q planet fitness: man this thread made me smile.. Thanks Bio.................. T

Holly!! Holly was the manager at Williamsport....what a babe....took me a bit to remember her name lol

I know Holly, I'll let her know she as an admirer. I personally like them a bit more fit.

A 3 mile drive sent you to PF???
3 miles man?
I'd drive 30 miles to avoid that place.

Unless of course it's on pizza Fridays.

I think her personality adds to it...been a couple years almost but she was really pretty.

Tell her it's the tall dark handsome fellow with the super sexy Maine accent lol

The whole time, I was thinking, if the weight slips, hell be smashed.

Went there to do cardio because my gym closed early. They wouldn't let me in because I had a gallon of water. A plastic, gallon jug, of water. F that place lol! I wanted to come back with one of those 10 gallon Poland springs office jugs, and run around with it in there lol
