Just thought it was about time to introduce myself. I have been hanging around on this board for only a couple of monts now and it feels like home already.
I grew up on bodybuilding in the late 60's and due to living in Union City where Joe Weider had his headquarters and warehouse prior to moving to California fulltime, I was able to hang out and meet many of the Pros of that day like Dave Draper, Harold Poole, and Rick Wayne. I also spent time visiting many of the NY gyms and was able to get to know both Sig Klein and Leroy Colbert.
Needless to say with that much inspiration, I became the usual toothpic thin 13 year old trying to follow all the training routines of the champions. As you might guess this did not serve to help me gain significant weight as I was severely overtraining. Over the course of many years and much trial an effort I finally began to learn to listen to my own body and FINALLY began to put on some mass. Though I've never been a giant I did go from 11 1/2 inch arms at age 13 and a weight of 126 to a hight of around 200 lbs with cold 18 inchers. Not bad for a "hobbit" barely scaping 5' 6".
Anyway, I've been lifting all these years in addition to some diversions along the way in the martial arts area and know I will keep lifting till I die.
It is great to have discovered this board and have the chance to learn from so many of you and to share the excitement of the sport.
Sorry if I've been too long winded but then "No pain, No gain!"
your brother in Christ,
lucky
