I have to dig this one, cause this is very similar to my workout!

UPPER
low incline dumbbell press
decline hammer strength machine
hammer strength pulldown, cable front pulldown
dumbbell row, low pulley row, t-bar row
dumbbell lateral raises
skullcrushers, overhead dumbbell press, rope extensions

LOWER
hack squat
leg press
SLDL
standing leg curl
lying leg curl
ez bar curls
incline dumbbell curls
preacher machine curls phil hernon style - positive with both hands, negative with only one
pinwheel curls

3,4 sets per muscle , no warmups between same muscle exercises
Normally I don't go to failure I try to keep one rep left in the tank

also I do something like widowmakers - after the last set for a bodypart I pick an isolation exercise light weight and high reps

any thoughts ?
 
Bumping an Awesome thread. I remember when this was first posted. It was after I read this post by LATS that I was completely hooked on PM and finished with all the other boards(and I think animals board was still around then:eek:)

Is lats still around? And to me his buddies program seems a lot like DC training as well? Alot alike, low volume, 1 big set and so on....

Damn, I wish I would have read this 32 yrs ago when I started lifting.
Would of been a Pro!
 
I remember reading the updated part of this where lats said his friend went to high volume but after a while stated he went back to low volume hi frequency

I agree with these principles.


Except, for longevity purposes this wouldn't be ideal imo. Your joints will be severely stressed into your 40s/50s(genetics depending) if lifting that heavy and intensely while you're young. Plus running the risk of injury in the mean time.


Thoughts? Do any older guys still train like this and not experience issues?



Obviously I'm not trying to be a IFBB pro so destroying my body isn't ideal. I want to incorporate maximum intensity to the extent I will be able to do this for a long time.

Dante has already said that if you over 38 years old (I think that's the age he listed) DC style training should be left to the younger guys.

I agree. I'm only 31 and I'm all about longevity now as far as keeping my body injury free goes. I could do slightly more weight on everything if I really wanted, but I don't see the point.
