adding calories

Ive asked this question before but I am finding it really hard to get 4000 cals UNLESS I add olive oil to my shakes.

today I had none left so my cals look to be hitting 3300 by the end of that day.

prot 415
carbs 210
fat 92

usually I would be taking 9TBSP oil per day to reach 4000. Is this healthy? Should i just eat more carbs? Im following DC advice but its hard... Ill have my oil tomorow but just wanna make sure this isthe right way.
 
I try to get as many carbs as protein. Hard as hell since the wife is in the low carb craze

if you eat that (with more carbs) I am positive that you would put on 10-13lbs easy. One thing I have realized is that bbing is about consistency
 
that was my thinking, but DC made it sound like carbs should be the least of my worries.. protein/fat and eat the carbs if they are there.. dont go out of your way...
 
funny thing about that consistency weight77, one could be consistently doing the wrong thing...LOL...you're right though, I always thought that bbing was about intense consistency.
 
yeah that is a good point. But to me bbing is pretty simple. If you got the genetics, just eat, train, and take your supplements. Up unil this pec injury I really did think it was all drugs, no matter what I told people I still thought bbing was all drugs. But it really is not, and I learned the hard way. I mean I was thinking that I would just add 500mg of test every 8-12 months and a few other things and I was good as gold. But what I found is that if I just eat and eat a large set amount every single day of the month. (I do things by the month not by the week or year, it is easy to visualize short term goals, a week is too short and a month is just long enough to make improvements) Now I know the only way for me to move up in a weight calss every year, or just about, I have to stick with my food. That is the only thing holding me back, because I was not born a big eater. Everything else has come pretty easy to me.

Maybe for most people, but not for me. Carbs are a must for me.
 
I so want to answer this Derek....but it would become a 7 page post by the time I got to the end of it.....you have to get away from counting calories though. I dont allow anyone I train to count calories--only protein grams. All meals are either pro fat or pro carbs. Pro is always eaten first in a pro carb meal then fibers and veggies and lastly carbs. After 5-7pm determined by you, you cut complex carbs, not meticulously but conciously five main things bread, pasta, cereal, potatoes, rice. The exception is a postworkout meal (simple and complex carbs are taken in there) You go out to eat for a steak dinner and its pre carb cuttoff time you eat soup or salad and a huge amount of steak and veggies and lastly carbs (whatever it is)--let hunger determine how much you eat--if your hungry eat all the potatoes, if your not, eat what you want of the carbs (I dont care because you got in at least the 60 grams of protein I wanted you too already) ---You go out to eat and its after your carb cuttoff and not postworkout meal, you eat salad steak and double veggies (ask waitress of instead of the rice or potatoes if you can have double veggies)---let hunger decide alot of this for you derek and stop counting calories

WHY? Force feeding is the only reason I have been able to achieve the size I have. I think this is a good way to adress things between you and I.
 
Weight trust me --there isnt a guy Im training that doesnt hate my guts for all the food I make them eat--you would be forcefeeding yourself but in a certain guideline of doing it

thats my thing! I can eat once and be fine... But I know I need to eat lots! This is why I rely on lots of protein shakes! 12 scoops per day boyz!!! Only way to get my 400g in...

But my dilemna is when I take my shakes 3 times per day... what do i mix it in? I mix it in either milk or water with 3tbsp of olive oil to increase cals...

if I didnt drink so many shakes I wouldnt really have a problem because my cals would be eating with what ever I ate.

BTW Iam trying to prepare food and eat it. But untill then shakes are my alternative..

i also have a hell of a time getting all my nutrient needs for dc training. without shakes i wouldnt make it. i also use around 12-14 scoops of protein a day. it does sometime seem like force feeding is the only way to get everything in by 8pm. plus if you have any kind of demanding job... its HELL! shoving food every 1-2hrs isnt possible for everybody. but hey nothing good comes easy!

One way to increase your caloric intake is to eat calorie and nutritionally dense foods for example:

100g of macadamia nuts = 718 kcal

Protein=8g
Fat=76g (from the so called 'healthy fats')
Carbs=13g

100g is about the amount you can hold in half a handful of nuts.


Nuts, dairy products, dried foods such as fruits are usually calorie and nutrient dense.

Don't worry about calories as such. Worry about the protein.
 
Dont worry about increase your carbs. You need to force a little your stomach eating more meats. It is very difficult to increase your weigth taking the half of your protein intake from protein shakes.

try this shake = 750 cals
12 pasteurized egg whites + 1 scup whey protein + 300 gr rice (cooked with more water than usual to get a cream) + 2 tablespon peanut butter.

I am taking 600 gr protein, 500 gr carbs and 100 gr fat ed, believeme, it is very hard but i am gowing and weighting 270 pounds with 10%.

If you want to get big gains, you will have to loose shape and get a big weist, and then you remove it with a good diet, it is the fastest way to get big.
Getting big taking care your shape is a slow way. All the big guys low down about 30 to 40 pounds and they look bigger than the last competition.

Measure your body fat every week to becarefull.
